Mary and Martha III

Luke 10:38-42 'Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her Although being a busy body is discouraged in church, at the same time you should not limit your potential for to whom much is given, much is expected. When you have been given much, you should do much. Simply know what the Lord has called you to do and do it.  You surely need other people's help in accomplishing that vision only it shouldn't be by complaining. Com...

Mary and Martha II

Luke 10:41-42 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Like Martha was distracted, there are many things that distract us. Distraction is one of the tricks of the devil. His main aim is to distract you with many things so that you are taken off focus and off your calling. It is very bad to live all your life and you never walk in your calling. To some, they actually discover their calling way later when they are too old. Everyone of us, God has set a calling on our lives and it is very good to discover early and walk in it.  We need to serve diligently but the focus of our lives is Jesus Christ. The Bible says when we behold Jesus, we become more and more like Him. All other things become nothing in comparison. We need to learn from nature. Do you know that a lion however much it is rhe king of the jungle can die of hun...

Mary and Martha I

Luke 10:38-42 'Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. The Bible gives us two characters, one is Mary and another is Martha. And Christians act like either or both of the them. It says as they went a certain woman welcomed Jesus into her house just like many of us do welcome Jesus into our lives. It represents the day we got saved and welcomed Jesus into our lives. But what happens after we welcome Jesus into our lives? The ...

Wisdom VII

Proverbs 2:6 says, 'For the Lord gives wisdom, out of his mouth comes wisdom and understanding'.  God uses people as His mouth piece. You may not discern His voice most of the time but you can hear Him through His chosen vessels, the preachers and teachers of the Word. Therefore take time to listen to preachers not just on Sundays when you go to church but as much as you can. Download some good sermons, get an audio Bible, do everything you can to make sure you are feeding your mind with the Word of God continuously. As you do that, you are growing in wisdom in handling thr affairs of life. Through that you will learn to walk in the spirit of understanding the  and you will find yourself winning in every area of your life because of the wisdom of God in you. The wise shall call you wise because of the wisdom you will display. No one will despise you. There are some accounts of men who after getting saved and hearing the Word every now and then they started to get straight A...

Wisdom VI

Proverbs 4:5 'Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.' There are many treasures that are hidden in Christ, our wisdom. But how do we discover them? It is by feeding on Christ and keep on doing it all the time. Feeding on Christ is simply reading the Word of God deeper and go beyond what you have heard being preached for God will speak to you things the preachers never even taught you before. It is what the Bible calls on us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. As you grow in the knowledge of God, you are growing in wisdom. Growing takes time. You don’t plant a seed today and expect it to grow immediately And we never stop growing. Even when you are 20 years in salvation you still need the Word. Proverbs 2:6 says, 'For the Lord gives wisdom, out of his mouth comes wisdom and understanding'. God uses people as His mouth piece. You may not discern His voice most of the time but you can hear Him throu...

Wisdom V

1 Corinthians 2:7 'But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:' Paul continues to tell the Corinthian church about the hidden wisdom which is Christ Jesus whom Solomon testified about in the Old testament.  Some may ask, 'how come many Christians are not walking in wisdom?' It is because they have not yet understood this truth yet that this wisdom is available for them too for it is the truth we know that sets us free. The truth you don’t know won’t do anything for you, John 8:32.  This wisdom is activated through prayer. In marriage for example, wives ought to pray for their husbands so that God gives them a spirit of wisdom and revelation so tht he leads you and your home the right way. Even when you as the wife has all the wisdom, you will go down the drain with it if the husband is not wise.  Position and influence are key. Men have the position for they are the heads. Women are the necks t...

Wisdom IV

1 Corinthians 2:4 'And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:'  Since Christ has become unto us wisdom, 1 Cor 1:30, let's therefore embrace that truth and walk in it. Let our reasoning be based not on human wisdom but on Christ, our wisdom. We ought not to think as the world thinks for our wisdom is from on high. When you are listening to a teacher or a preacher, look out whether they are talking about Christ the Son of the living God or just talking merely about human affairs. Some keep talking about traditions or philosophies of men rather than preaching Christ. Some end up preaching about themselves, instead of pointing us to Christ. Avoid listening to talk on pulpits which is only full of talk about wisdom of men rather than the wisdom from above. This is true too about the natural things we get exposed to. You see a Christian feeding on news from morning to evening. What news? Adulter...

Wisdom III

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: David wrote in Psalms 23:4 that, 'even when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.' How do people end up walking in the valley of the shadow of death[problems]? It is because they are not walking in wisdom. But thank God who even when we get ourselves in trouble and are in need of a miracle to get out of there, our good shepherd performs a miracle and saves us. Just like the one who has their marriage restored through prayer and breaks again for lack of wisdom,  so is one who gets into financial problems. They get into debt of say 1 million. God does a miracle through prayer and they clear it and only a few months later the same believer slips into a bigger debt of 5 million because they lacked the wisdom to walk debt free. There we don't attribute it to generational curses or demons which were broken...

Wisdom II

Proverbs 3:13-16 'Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.' Living long is associated with walking in divine health. Imagine you are a father and your kids are yearning for you to put them on your shoulders but you cannot because you are ill. No one would love such a situation even though they are wealthy. If a rich man lies on his death bed. Will he want to call for his lawyers so that he signs a business deal and close it before he dies? No, he will ask God to give him life so that he may serve his family, enjoy his children and friends. Being healthy is important but it takes wisdom to live healthy. In Christ, both wisdom and longevity are available for you....

Wisdom I

2 Chronicles 9:7 'Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.' When the queen of Sheba went to visit Solomon in 2 chronicles 9:7, she concluded that, 'happy are your men and your servants who stand to continually hear your words of wisdom.'  After years of taking heed to God’s word, our lives begin to change. The only reason for that is that the Word of God reveals God's wisdom to us which transforms us. When God asked Solomon what he wanted from Him as he was ascending to the throne of his father David, Solomon asked for wisdom. 'Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?' (2Ch 1:10). The Bible says God gave Solomon wisdom, knowledge, wealth greater than any other king before or after him. It is estimated that if he was alive today, he would be worth over 200 billion dollars, an amount none has ever...

Abundance I

Image
Luke 5:7 And they beckoned unto [their] partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. From our theme scripture we understand that Peter signaled to only one boat. Had he signaled to as many boats as he could, wouldn’t they have been filled too? Obviously they would but at that point Peter had little faith. Child of God that should teach you a lesson to enlarge your capacity to receive God’s huge blessing by faith.  What limits may be the formal education we received in school. For instance we learn things like economics which tell us about scarcity of resources and that even influences our thinking or speech. On the contrary if we choose to side with the Word, we shall be overcomes and walk in the abundance that God desires us to. Their boats started to sink because of the extravagant and abundant blessing that they experienced in a short time! This should teach us that God does not...

Generational blessings III

Genesis 39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. In Genesis 39 we see a generational blessing at work in Joseph’s life, a beloved son of Jacob. Earlier in his life, Jacob, his father gave him a coat of many colours which signifies favour. When joseph was sold to Egypt by his brothers, because of the favour that was on him, Egypt became the food basket for the entire world. A whole generation was about to die but because of Joseph, it was saved.  Joseph is a picture of Christ. Christ is the beloved Son of our Father, favored and loved by Him but was hated so much and betrayed by his own brethren, the Jews. Jesus was betrayed and handed over by the Jews to the Romans to be killed and for 2000 years Jesus ended up in the hearts of Egyptians(gentiles) like you and me an...

Generational blessings II

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. God is a generational God. God called Abraham; therefore, He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. How does that happen? When God blessed Abraham, He told him that generations after him will also be blessed and that happened to his son Isaac and his grandson Jacob. Up to today the biological Jews pride themselves a lot in being sons of Abraham for God blessed them because they are the natural seed of Abraham. The truth is Isaac did not have so many encounters with God per say but the blessing just came to him simply because he was a son of Abraham. If that was true for them, it is also true for us since we are in Christ Jesus. In Christ, we inherit the blessing of Abraham. What then is o...

Generational blessings I

Jeremiah 31:29-30 In those days they shall say no more, the fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge Our theme scripture is one that is always quoted but misused by those that preach on generational curses. The church has been so accustomed to hear about generational curses but so little has been heard about generational blessings that are ours in Christ Jesus. When you hear generational curses all the time, that forms your life because what a man hears forms their belief system and their belief system forms their life. The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. The reverse is true. Fear and doubt and curses come by hearing and hearing wrong teaching. The teaching on generational curses is based on this premise that your father and grandfather or someone in your lineage sinned. Unless you are not observant, y...

Grace IV

Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus told His disciples, 'you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free'. It is not just the truth that will set you free but the truth 'you know' is what will set you free. Many people are aware of Bible truths. Even the devil knows some truths. For example he knows that Jesus is the Son of God but that has never had any influence on him until truth becomes revelational knowledge or until it moves from the head to the heart, it will never have impact in one's life.  Peter answered Jesus’ question of who He was by revelation. Then Jesus told him that on this rock of revelation, not Peter, will I build my church. Although the disciples saw Jesus,  they didn't see him like Peter did. That's how two people can sit under the same message, same church, same preacher but they leave church after service with varying opinions of the message. One is asked ‘h...

Grace III

Hebrews 13:8-9 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For [it is] a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. The Bible says the Grace of God will establish you. What you have to know is that not every word you hear is able to build and establish you so be careful what you take in.  The people the writer of Hebrews referred to thought that meats, strange doctrines would in a way establish them. That was not only wrong thinking, it was false. The word of grace is that which establishes a believer and grounds them. The word of grace is the word of Christ, who is the same yesterday, today and forever. In all you seek, seek to be established in the grace of God.

Grace II

Act 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. Sheep have shepherds to watch over them, how about the shepherds themselves? Paul committed them to the Word of His grace. The same word they are committed to by God, is the same they commit to the sheep. Even when Paul knew that savage wolves will come to tear down the flock, their best security was the Word. What inheritance is there for them? Glory in heaven and on earth, righteousness, faith, truth etc.  It also builds up a believer spiritually and physically. Men who are given to it grow in maturity and their bodies healthy. The best place one can ever be in is in the Word of His Grace.

2 Peter 3:15-16 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Paul had received a divine revelation about the gospel of the grace of God, which was not revealed to the first apostles. This was acknowledged by all, including Peter.  In Galatians 2, Paul rebuked Peter publicly at Antioch for not acting in a manner worthy of the gospel he preached. Peter was a great pillar of the New Testament church. For Paul to openly rebuke him means Paul knew exactly what he was doing. For Peter to accept the rebuke is a sign that he recognised what was on Paul. Peter's actions were hypocritical. At one point, he sided with those of the uncircumcision, sign...

Prosperity VI

Genesis 12:2-3 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. In our theme scripture, we see Abraham promised a blessing so that he would also become a blessing to others. In proceeding chapters he became so rich in cattle, gold and in good works too.  He was a blessing in the rescue of Lot and helping overcome the enemies of King of Sodom and Gomorrah in the battle of the Kings. After rescuing Lot, he didn't even take anything from the spoils, lest they say that his riches was a result of that war. He entirely trusted God and God made him rich, this showed how he was not only content in his relationship with God, but also how blessed he was. God can make you so rich that you become a great blessing to the work of God. This was true to the church at Macedonia who looked for every opport...

Prosperity V

Image
Psalms 35:27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Child of God you need to expect good things to come your way. Let your heart be established on that. Do not be double minded, not knowing what to expect.  There is a teaching which has been popularised nowadays called positive thinking. If you are not careful you may mistake it for faith but it isn't. Positive thinking is an attitude that only expects positive things based on one's own willpower. Faith on the other hand expects good things based on God's word. The former is based on the mind of a man. The later is based on the mind of God.  Positive thinking says if man desires something so badly then they get it. Underline "man". When has man been the centre of things? Isn't that a dethronement of God and enthroning man instead? Doesn't that lead one to self susten...
