Assured blessings
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moses in the old testament read a number of blessings to the Israelites in the book of Deuteronomy 28. At the same time He also read to them curses. Blessings were dependent on their obedience to God's law while curses were dependent on their disobedience. In the New testament it is quite different. For example in our theme scripture we discover that Jesus's obedience grants us righteousness, which is a spiritual blessing from God. By His stripes too we are healed. When you ask a Christian will you go to heaven? Their answer will depend on the righteousness they rest on, whether theirs or Christ's. Out of fear or uncertainty, men hinge their going to heaven on what they have done or not done.
