It's a personal relationship

Job 2:9 AMPC [9]  Then his wife said to him, Do you still hold fast your blameless uprightness? Renounce God and die! Job's wife didn't know how deep his husband was with his God that's why he made such a statement. Job's relationship with God was personal. God relates with us on a personal basis. Get to know Him intimately and deeply. When you do, you won't be diverted by the people who will attempt to distract you from your right course. Adam in the beginning fell into his wife's temptation. Samson too. Jesus didn't. Other men of God fell because they gave heed to contradictory messages from others.  But for you not to be tempted by others, you need to be firmly rooted in your beliefs. Above all settle it in your heart early beforehand that you won't give heed regardless whether it came from the closest person known to you. Be ready to offend others because you have held tight to your beliefs. Some give in to  please the other person yet they are in di...

Faith instead of Fear

Job 3:25 AMPC [25]  For the thing which I greatly fear comes upon me, and that of which I am afraid befalls me. Job's confession speaks volumes. He said that the thing he feared most happened (manifested). What are those things you fear and make you worry, you keep imagining or meditating on them? That's why fear is of the devil, in fear he makes headway to execute his plans. Fear grants him the legal right to wreck havoc in your life. The events that happen in people's lives are a replay of the scenes and images generated by their fears previously. Fear comes through sensual knowledge. Silence your fears with the faith of God operating in your life. Believe God instead of believing your fears and you will walk victoriously. DK

The God who restores

Joel 2:25 "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. Many things happen to people and they feel like giving up. Once rich and now broke, failed in school, the business is taking a toll of you, they stole everything you had, it might be personal finances etc. At that moment you may feel it's too late, it's never too late to God. He is a God of restoration, He promised to restore all that the worms had eaten. I come to encourage you today to believe in a God who restores. Thanks be to God because He already restored unto us our inheritance that we had lost to the devil through Adam's disobedience. All you need to do now is to believe, receive and act out your faith.  Genesis 26:16-18 NLT [16] Finally, Abimelech ordered Isaac to leave the country. “Go somewhere else,” he said, “for you have become too powerful for us.” [17] So Isaac moved a...

Just show up

Hebrews 10:25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Are you tired, beaten up by circumstances, are you about to give up? Are you stranded? Are you unsure about tomorrow, carrying anxiety, sick? Is your marriage on the rocks?  Simply show up for God and for fellowship. I wonder what goes into the mind of some believers who choose not to congregate because they are chasing an extra dollar! It is a recipe for danger. I wonder whether they know that they will only shine best if they are in close fellowship with God! God is not against you working, in fact He invented work, and wants you to trust Him today with a potion of your time to Him. Show up for that prayer meeting, show up for that worship practice, show up for Sunday service, show up for that mid-week service etc. Go and congregate. There is beauty whenever we meet with the brethren. Such meetings are like brooks...

Your birth-right

John 1:12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name.  Child of God, do you know your birthright and the privileges you carry? In Genesis 25, Esau (the first born) Traded his birthright to his brother Jacob (the younger brother). The birth right of Esau the first born had rights to double inheritance and authority. It carried position but Esau was Ignorant about the birth-right, he didn't know what it meant and the privileges there of so he gave it away for a meal (temporal thing). Same it is for many Christians today. They don't know their birth-right. Yet their enemy (the devil) knows it very well and he comes cunningly with temporal things to take it away from them through things such as food, money, marriage, relationships etc which are temporal. The devil can take on forms through your grand parents i.e naming funny...

Obedience

Genesis 28:1-2 NLT [1] So Isaac called for Jacob, blessed him, and said, “You must not marry any of these Canaanite women. [2] Instead, go at once to Paddan-aram, to the house of your grandfather Bethuel, and marry one of your uncle Laban’s daughters. God places different people in our lives for a reason. They guide us, protect us, give us counsel. Have you identified those people God has placed in your life, or in a particular season? Are you obeying them? In the above Scripture Isaac commanded Jacob not to marry a Canaanite woman, so he went where his Father told him. On his journey he met God. If he hadn't gone, am sure, he would have missed God. The beauty with obedience is that you can never miss God. But at times we forget and want to operate in our own wisdom or choose not to listen to the people God has placed in our midst in such times. Other things suddenly become more important than the voice of God. We allow the voice of circumstance, reason, experiences overrule the vo...

Keeping your mind on Christ

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]:  because he trusteth in thee. Keeping your mind on the Lord Jesus Christ is not a one day thing. It's a continuous fight you have to engage in. The devil's greatest attack is directed towards our minds. But thank God he has no new tricks. We are able to defeat him in any way he may attack us.  Many things want to occupy your mind. So if you're mind is not stayed on christ you will have unrest, you will be unhappy as well as attract disease. Kenneth Hagin said you cannot hinder a bird from flying over your head but you can stop it from building it's nest on your head.  Do you know that some people worry because they not only take in worrisome thoughts but they harbour them, and don't allow them to leave their minds?  You cannot desist a tempting thought from coming but you can stop it from being conceived in your heart. Stop dwelling on those thoughts by imagining all kinds of nega...

The Provider

Genesis 22:14 AMPC [14]  So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide. And it is said to this day, On the mount of the Lord it will be provided. God created this beautiful earth we are in. He created you and knew you before you were born in your mother's womb. He has plans to prosper you not to cause you any harm. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He is able do exceedingly abundantly and above all you can ever think or imagine. The word you know will be tested and once it is proven it will come to pass and you will see it the way Abraham saw it come to pass when God provided the lamb to Abraham instead of Isaac.  What can we learn from Abraham? He didn't have plan B, plan C or D. He had only one plan, Faith. He simply believed God. He had a laser focused eye view on what God promised. He hoped around faith. He imagined God providing the lamb. He imagined God raising Isaac from the dead. His hopes and imaginations were all centred around the promise and ...

The blessings

Genesis 22:16-17 AMPC And said, I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, that since you have done this and have not withheld [from Me] or begrudged [giving Me] your son, your only son, In blessing I will bless you and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants like the stars of the heavens and like the sand on the seashore. And your Seed (Heir) will possess the gate of His enemies, [Heb. 6:13, 14; 11:12.] God tested and proved Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son whom he loved so much. God will always ask you for what you love and treasure most. Most times Christians pretend not to be hearing, they complain and try to negotiate with God, and they end up missing big blessings. Your blessing is in that thing He requested from you and simply turned a deaf ear. The multiplication you need is in that thing you are with holding from God. Some of the reasons men can't give in what God has requested is because they don’t trust He is their source and secondly they don't k...

Dangers of looking back

Genesis 19:17 AMPC [17]  And when they had brought them forth, they said, Escape for your life! Do not look behind you or stop anywhere in the whole valley; escape to the mountains [of Moab], lest you be consumed. Looking back means giving attention, listening attentively, gazing back. This looking back kills progress, one tends to get attached to what happened to them in the past which hinders their progress in this Life. Looking back sucks life from those who do, they start being passive, sad and letting the past dominate or even define their lives. They miss out on enjoying the daily privileges from the lord. He is a now God not a past God. He does things daily. Looking back will paralyze you, make you be fruitless, Genesis 19:26 AMPC But [Lot's] wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. Looking back has led to broken marriages because one of them is still listening or looking back to their ex boyfriends or girlfriends. Looking back has also led to broke...

Against all odds

Genesis 18:14 AMPC [14] Is anything too hard or too wonderful for the Lord? At the appointed time, when the season [for her delivery] comes around, I will return to you and Sarah shall have borne a son. Even when Sarah was of Old Age and Abraham was Old, God's word came to pass. In the process of waiting on the Lord, many lose their faith or give up. Sarah started comparing herself to the young woman Hagar. She devised means through which God would fulfill His promise by asking Abram to have a child through her. That was evidence that she had started losing focus of the promise. Child of God you need to focus on God. He will surpasse all odds no matter how dead the situation may be. See how He did it to our mother Sarah who gave birth at 90 years. That was beyond human comprehension or science.  That situation which doctors can't explain, which nobody cannot understand, He the Lord will do it. Believe His word and at the right time it will come to pass. DK

Support group

Matthew 6:37-40 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou [wilt]. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? A support group are a group of friends who care for your well being in all aspects of life. They are those to whom you one can speak to, laugh with, have moments of joy and prayer. One writer calls them a band of brothers [sisters].  Such Friends stand with you in those tough moments, they challenge you to grow and increase your intellect. I believe everyone needs a support a group. Do you have a support group? I pray God leads you to one this year.  Be intentio...

Depend on God entirely

Proverbs 3:5-6 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. The only reason why you may not be seeing God at work in your life might be because you have many Options apart from Him. Among all the things you might be considering, God is not there. You need help and the greatest help you ever needed and will need is God's. Surprisingly many think about Him but don't involve him! What a shame! Depending on God means you lean your entire personality on Him, you have burnt all the bridges behind you and the only option you have is God.  To others God may not be the only option, but one of the options. That's not pleasing to God. They put conditions around God's workings. They are like if God ever doesn't come through, I will do it "my way." I have seen and heard ma...

Unity makes work easier and lighter

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. When we celebrated our third anniversary as a church[Nations Church Kyambogo, in Kampala, Uganda] in November 2024, I saw unity in action. We worked, supported and planned together and the day was a great success. Unity work makes the burden easier and lighter. Imagine three people carrying a load yet the other two on the extreme ends are not holding onto the load, it means the middle person will carry all of it and this will be heavy on him alone. But if they were to carry equally, they can go far with the load. One person can do much, more than one person can do so much more!  No one can hinder a work of a united team. It is unstoppable. It took only God in the bible to stop the men who were building a tower unto heaven...

Dreams and Visions

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: God speaks and He's still doing that today. How can we be able to know our future? It's through dreams.  In the body of Christ, God has bestowed prophets among us with gifts of dreaming and having visions. These help us to know what God is up to.  Why walk in the dark yet God is able to reveal to us what is about to happen in the future? It's us who don't care to receive from Him. For that reason I encourage men to consistently pray in private and also be part of group prayer meetings. Because therein God speaks to various people through what God has shown them. It's not a surprise that that is a church program that is least attended! Private prayer too is taken as something hard to do on an individual basis too. Fight to be in the presence. Don't allow ...

My husband, my Lord

The way I treat my husband is key. Do you treat him as your Lord or something to order around.  This generation is dealing with so many things like feminism, homosexuality, etc. It's in these times that women don't want to take their place of submission. They want to overrule what God instituted. What they forget is that if the world doesn't treat men and women as equal, that was not so in the beginning. The husband and wife before God are equal, only roles differ. One's role cannot make them superior or inferior to the other. It's the husband who is answerable to God for the ultimate decision making in the home. That doesn't stop the wife from voicing her opinion though.  Let's learn from our mother Sarah. The bible says in 1 Peter 3:6 It was thus that Sarah obeyed Abraham [following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by] calling him lord (master, leader, authority). And you are now her true daughters if you do right and let nothing terrif...

Trust in marriage

Psalms 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up [his] heel against me. Trust is like virginity once it is broken it's hard to mend it.  When trust is broken, you cannot enjoy the marriage union. It doesn't matter how long you have built the union, a single selfish act will bring it down. As much as you can, avoid acts like selling anything which belongs to both of you without informing your partner, telling lies, unfaithfulness, not informing your partner about your movements, etc. Marriage should teach you to be accountable to the other person in all things, to be open about your fears or intentions you might be having. You may do something out of good intentions but if you aren't accountable before doing it, you might be mistaken. In times of financial crisis for example, taking a loan may appear nobel but disastrous at the same time if it's not agreeable to the two of you.  It is doubly stressful when the world ...

Marriage for God

1 Corinthians 11:3 But there is one thing I want you to know: The head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.  Woman, when you get a revelation that you are marrying for God, your marriage will run smooth and easier.  The revelation that your husband is your head, not your eqaul, colleague or fellow will make you do things differently. Even when you serve them, you serve them differently. You do unto them as unto God.  It's key to recognize that early and honor them. To let them be and take up their place in your marriage.  Wives, let's esteem and honor our own  husbands for that is pleasing unto God. DK

Fear of men

Mathew 21:23-27 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. Ever been there with a burden at heart? Something you have to bring out and you are not doing it? Many times you know very well that you have to do it, but what is that number one hindrance to move in line with that burden?...

Created to flow

John 7:38 Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way.  Flow is action of continuous movement from one place to another and from one vessel to another. Your life and mine should be that of flowing and yielding to the Holy Spirit.  All we need to do is to surrender to His flow. When you do, your life will come back to you full measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. When we don't, we risk losing even the little we have. What if you are holding onto something that no longer serves you, and that could be a relationship, a job but it no longer serves you. It could be your time to flow. Unfortunately some people are waiting for life to take a sudden turn and they turn too. A friend has told me before that while growing up, their parent prepared them for a time when he was no longer around such that when an unexpected turn of events happens and the parent wasn't around, they the remaining children wouldn't su...

Release yourself

Many people have had relatively straight or obvious lives so they may not understand when I  persistently write to  encourage those who are depressed, stuck or are not making progress in most areas of life. By straight I mean after finishing school without having repeated a class, or not attending because of school fees, they immediately got a job, then got a spouse, got married, have had children, bought property etc. So such a man or woman by 35 years or less on average they look successful. They may not understand this blog or others I have been writing about. God has called me to encourage those who at some point lost it in the race of life or are currently losing it because of some failure previously encountered or currently facing. I remember talking to a friend who told me that when he was about to sit a major exam, he was accused of escaping outside the school. They took him to police and was told to report to school with a policeman everyday when doing a paper. Since ...

The mind

Pilippians 4:8 TPT Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God,  praising him always. The mind is like a womb. It is able to conceive anything that enters into it.  Man is a total sum of whatever he thinks or imagines in their mind. It's one thing for a thought to enter your mind and it's another when it becomes part of your imagination.  The Bible says whatever a man thinks in his heart so is he. Be careful to stop thinking/imagining whatever you don't want to bring forth. Since your imagination starts out in your mind, that same imagination comes from the  information you are feeding your mind on. For example being fearful is a result of imagining fear. And such fearful thoughts come from the information you fed or are feeding your mind. Similarly, the joy you show is a reflection on the information ...

Speaking is not enough

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. When someone is pregnant, there is evidence. When a person is sick, there are signs to show they are. If you have surely experienced Christ there will be evidence.  You can't be stumbling in darkness if you have rubbed shoulders with the Light. We serve a limitless God with limitless abilities. Our life thus ought to manifest Him in all things. Light has to be evident in our homes, work, relationships etc. If there's darkness in the world, you ought to be shining the life of Christ to it for Christ the light of life is in you!  We ought not just speak about how blessed we are, we ought to be the very definition of the blessing to the lost and dying world. Sickness, lack, should be far from you for you are a child of the Light, hallelujah. DK

Prayer drills

Ever been in a place where scarcity seems as though it's part of life, a place of not having more than enough, where you desire to help others but you can't because you are limited financially? In a place where you don't eat what you want but only what you can afford, you put on what you afford not what you want or desire, where you eat to survive and not what you really want to eat or enjoy to eat? Those are painful places to be in. Child of God instead of lamenting and complaining, speak faith filled words like these daily, "I am not a limited being, I am supernatural, It's my season of abundance and abounding, am waxing greater and greater, money hears me and it answers me, it locates me, I eat like a king, dress like a king, am fully supplied with all things, hallelujah." Speak of such things that are not as if they are and your faith will rise, you won't walk in timidity or doubt but in boldness. Therein your supply will be fully met, glory! DK

You can't do both

Galatians 1:10 Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant. Pleasing God means living a different life from that of the world.  It's spiritual to please God. It takes Faith to please God and that is foolishness to the world. The life to please God is where you forgive endlessly, give endlessly, love whole heatedly, serve Him wholly etc. This is exactly contrary to what the world does. You have to take a stand this year and choose one life to live. If you choose to please men, you can't live to your full potential of what God has called you to be. Whenever you start to develop fear of what people will think or say about you, your developing a fear of man. Your focus should be on God and not men.  The Bible says we should look unto Christ, the Author and finisher of our faith. Christ has already spoken good things about you. He has placed His fullness in you. Why do you worry what ma...

How to relate with the Father's

It's very easy to ignore the father's God blesses you with. It therefore takes some level of spiritual sensitivity and maturity to know that so and so has come or came to my life for a particular purpose and reason and thus I need to accord them honour. Firstly, it's good to honour them with your substance at every opportunity you can. Galatians 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. I don't know about you but there's a certain reverence I have for father's and in particular men of God in that whenever I ask to meet them with an inquiry in a major move I am to take, I don't go empty handed. Somehow I feel it's dishonoring for such important people who are very busy by the way, to give you time and you don't value their time with an offering.  Secondly do good to them always all the days of your life and not evil. It is said that never do anything bad to someone who has ever done you good. It'...

Life shouldn't be a mystery if one has a father

It has been said by some that life is not a dress rehearsal, it's the real deal. In this life where all of us live once, we need someone more experienced to give us clues on every step we are about to enter in, clues that will enable us avoid costly mistakes.  Life is not meant to be mysterious when we have people who have done what we want to do or have attempted to do them but failed. These lessons if shared will enable the inexperienced to walk those paths without struggle. The wise man said there's no new thing under the sun. Whatever you want to do, someone has done it or dreamt a similar thing before. So if you are a young man who boasts in your strength to do everything, consult the experiences of grey haired men because they have seen it or done it before. Personally I thank God for the many father's God has blessed me with in every major step I was about to enter in or was currently walking in. Through their counsel I have been able to wage wars be it entering a re...

Fathers

A father is somebody who gives birth to you. He is someone who gives you form, identity, existence and even an inheritance. A father has the ability to make you or break you thus one of the things anyone shouldn't play with is the power bestowed on father's by God Almighty.  A father's curse can affect your future negatively. Likewise a blessing of a father can have a positive effect on your life for good for example when Isaac was about to leave this world he called his son Esau to bless him. Instead it was Jacob he blessed. He blessed Jacob with these words in Genesis 27:28-29 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed [be] every one that curseth thee, and blessed [be] he that blesseth thee.  Those words of Isaac's blessing are what have made what Israel is today. That's...

Managing your emotions

Managing one's emotions is a skill not everyone possesses. We need to learn from Jesus how He acted in certain situations that entailed Him to manage His emotions. When the sea was raging, Jesus calmed it down. He didn't complain like the disciples did when they shouted how they were about to die, Matt 8:24-26. He was in control of His emotions in the midst of looming danger. Many peoples emotions get out of hand when they are hard pressed. They tend to communicate with emotions such as anger and hurt others in the process. What is supposed to be done? Calm down. When you're calm, you are able to think right and act right. Secondly move away from those you happen to be in strife with that very moment and recollect yourself. It's better to stay quiet also than to speak a word that you will regret later on. A quiet person never regrets after the tense incident afterwards. DK

Visibility

Matthew 5:15-16 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven. Platforms (lampstands) are made for the lamps with light on them. The lamps with lights on them charactise those who are bold ones and are attempting to do something with the gifts God has bestowed on them.  Traditional lamps in Jesus' day when hidden under the table, would cause some risks like fire outbreak to the occupants and their property! On the other hand if the light was not lit, darkness would result. Likewise if you don't shine, many people whom you ought have lead will be in darkness, for they will be lost. Furthermore many people self destruct if they don't light their lamps. Instead of lighting they do the very opposite like criticism, ...
