Serious and unserious volunteers

1 Corinthians 9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation [of the gospel] is committed unto me. Church needs many hands involved in ministry for it to grow. Not all those people will be paid directly by the church neither can they be compelled to do what they are supposed to do. This means they have to volunteer to do it. As much as volunteers are good, having a mindset of "I act like this after all am not being paid" is not good.  Church cannot grow where there are such kind of volunteers who think that way. As far as I know, God rewards far better than any earthly employer you may ever know. God's rewards and blessings for serving Him come in many forms. Some may not be in hard cash but you wouldn't live a comfortable life if they were lacking. In previous blogs we talked of the negative things which accompany those who are not loaded with ministry burden. Those who are in the ministry enjoy the blessings of good he...

Children vs the mature

Heb_5:12  For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. Labouring in the ministry has a reward not only in this life but in the life to come, too. When we get to heaven, we shall receive two crowns: the crown of service and the crown of salvation.   Everyone deep in their hearts yearns to live for something bigger and greater than themselves, and ministry is such a thing. It transcends the earthly into eternity. For many years to come, your ministry will be touching thousands just like some of God's generals.    Many who do not engage in the ministry are compared to children.  Children are naturally consumers and not producers. If you still live that way, you are a child in a big person's body.  Children are also very dependent people; even when they wet themselves, they need someone to clean them up. ...

Labouring

1 Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. Paul talks to beloved brethren.   If we can put it in context, he was referring to those who were labouring and working tirelessly for the Lord. On top of that they are stedfast, unmoveable.  Many believers operate like balloons; they are inflated and deflated at the same time. At one point, they are on fire for God; at another point, they are not. They do not have staying power. But this is not in ministry alone. Statistics show that Uganda is one of the most entrepreneurial nations of the world yet most of such business start ups fail to make it to their first birthday. I have also heard from one entrepreneur and employer who said that there's a problem with this generation when it comes to work. Their attitude is poor towards work. They also lack concentration and worse of it all the...

Ministry burden

Mat 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. The Lord gives rest in a certain way. How does it do it? By offloading us with yokes and burdens and loading us with His yoke and burden, which is the ministry burden.  Many are not enjoying their Christian life simply because they have not fully carried the yoke that Jesus gives. Since there is no neutral ground for them to occupy, the  enemy takes advantage and loads them with his burdens. You will be loaded with either one or the other. The enemy cannot load you with a burden if you have the Lord’s burden already. Some of the enemy's burdens are diseases and sicknesses.    Like I mentioned before, the yoke and burden of the Lord is the ministry.   Once your burden becomes the burden to...

Purpose III

Jeremiah 30:19.   And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.  God is going to make you merry and, at the same time, multiply you as you accomplish His purpose, which becomes your purpose in life.  Many motivational speakers ask people to write down their vision or purpose, but they fail to reveal that God should ultimately give you His purpose, which should become your purpose for you to be fulfilled in life. If such a motivational speaker does not believe in God, then that makes it worse. They will point people to themselves as if they are an end in themselves. Yet the Bible is clear that it is not in man to direct his steps. If you reach a point where you say, "Not my will, but your will be done," then that is a place of surrender, where you no longer live for yourself but for God.  That is what Paul said: to live is Chr...

Purpose II

Act_13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: Many Bible characters served their purpose during their time. Right from Abraham, Moses, David, etc. Esther, too, whom we wrote a lot about yesterday in her position as the queen, also served her purpose. She risked her life and her position for the salvation of the Jews. What does that tell you? All her purpose in life was to rescue the people of God. Abraham, Moses, David, and Esther are not around today, but you are. You are also meant to serve God through the ministry of rescuing multitudes from destruction through soul-winning, or by indirectly contributing to it in one way or another. This should eventually lead men to know God and be established in the church.  Such a man who is serving his purpose with intentionality and knowledge will have results coming his way. Like Isaiah says, He will shine, and even the Gentiles or nations s...

Purpose I

Esther 4:13-14  Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? God has a purpose for each of us. But many do not know what that purpose is, and they end up misusing their lives or wandering from this to that without clearly defining or even having a sense of calling in what they are on. Every time the purpose of something is unknown, misuse occurs. For example, if someone does not know what the purpose of their body is, they will definitely use it for anything, including drugs, prostitution, etc. So it is important to know your purpose so that you do not waste your time and energy on useless ventures. The purpose of something dete...
