God's eye view

John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and [then] cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. People who are actively working in God's will have a different way of seeing the world and things in general. When the world is heading south, for to them they head North, why God's will most times is not popular and appeasing to all. It shatters the pride of man.  There's a vivid example to this in our theme scripture, when the disciples thought the harvest is four months away, Jesus said no, the harvest has already started. It's happening right now! What does this teach us, that the Lord wants us to be actively involved in harvesting souls right now!!! The enemy of doing or thinking in the now is procrastination. Procrastination says we shall do it at the right time, when I have enough resources and when the conditions are right. There's never something like that at least. You have to ...

Refreshing

John 4:31-32 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Anyone who does what God has willed him or her to do will experience a deep refreshing within them. We remember Jesus after talking to the Samaritan woman, one of the things He experienced was a certain deep refreshment within Himself. He felt fully satisfied although in the natural he hadn't had any food.  In His words he said my food is to do the will of Him who sent me. There's nothing frustrating in this life as a person who is misplaced or feels like they are wrongly placed. They may have the money, and all that life has to offer and yet lack one essential thing and that's joy. Joy is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It's experienced within after doing something significant without.  Don't simply indulge your body in things that do not satisfy, seek to do God's will and refreshing, satisfaction will be the result.

Walk by the Book

Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. This scripture has another parallel which should apply to us as we are on a journey to discover and walk in God's will in our lives. It says Jesus came in the volume of the book. It doesn't say that Jesus came and do whatever He found useful or necessary or logical or something that pleases man. Rather He came to fulfil whatever was already written in God's word. He only had to discover it through the Word.  When the Bible says He grew in wisdom and stature, it means his natural mind had to be educated about who He really was in his Spirit. Wisdom being the right application of knowledge, it also implies that He came to grasp that He was God in flesh, He was to die on the cross, that He was about his father's business etc and whatever those revelations required to be fulfilled.  There's something written about us in God's Word we need to search out and di...

What drives you?

Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. There's a parallel we learn from this scripture about our very lives. Jesus' one motive and drive was to do the will of God. God's will became His will.  Is that the same with you? It should if you are on this journey of living out your purpose. It has been said by many that the number one and one of most powerful things God has ever given man was a will. You can use that opportunity to side with God's will for your life or oppose it. Man has choices and God cannot super impose His will on us if we don't want to. This is hard to take in but it's true.  Let's see how man exercised his power of choice and personal will. In the garden of Eden, the very first beings chose to disobey God. You may want to think why didn't God come and intervene to savour the situation since man was going astray? He had already given him the power of choice, including re...

Jesus the author and perfector of our Faith

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. We have a great leader children of God who doesn't throw us into something and then leaves us to figure out what to do. Jesus started our faith, he is the one to perfect it. Perfect there means complete or maturity or bring to an end.  Many start well and do not finish maybe because they lack backbone, but we are covered already, we have one. Jesus won't abandon ship like some leaders who resign along the way, no He's right there in the ship with you. Even when the storm rages He's there, hallelujah.  Once we understand that, Christianity no longer becomes a burden because Jesus carries the bulk of the load. We are yoked together with Him and even when we don't do our part, he is faithful to His. The Bible says even when we are unfaithful, God remains faithful. ...

Fix your eyes on Jesus

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. As we run to fulfill God's call for our lives, it's important we learn to fix our eyes upon Jesus. Fixing there is likened to a dog fixing it's gaze or eyes on its owner having a piece of meat or bone about to throw it down and it quickly runs to grab it. I have seen cats also having such mannerisms. It is also likened to a waiter or waitress in a restaurant fixing their gaze on their customer just in case they need any service. Good waiters have one job and that's to meet their customers or client's needs. Once the client is served well, they will tip them a huge amount of money and also be assured that they will return next time.  Who's your master child of God? Whose servant are you? Who called you into the ministry? What is God up to? Are you waiting upo...

Perseverance

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Another important virtue to learn from this scripture as we run to fulfill God's will is the word perseverance.  Thanks be to God that the race to fulfill God's will is already marked out for us. Ours is to follow the markings laid out for us. That takes discipline. We are in a race and everyone has to focus on what their calling is. It is those who don't understand their calling that they busy themselves on talking ill about others who are running their race.  If all Christians did concentrate on their call, we wouldn't have empty seats in our churches or even enough room to fill the vast number of people that would flock in. In this Christendom, everyone has a part to play and a race to run. There's no need to compete or fight one anothe...

Keys to fulfilling God's will

Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. There are several nuggets to learn from this potion of scripture  as we find or fulfill the call of Gordon our lives.  Firstly, we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. Who are those? The saints that went before us and are now in paradise. They are up there cheering us on and encouraging us to move on and not give up. It's key to have that at the back of our minds in order not to faint in that day of adversity. Any runner of a race needs support from those in the stands. Their cheers enable him stride forward. The last thing he ought not to do is to...

Follow Jesus

Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. In this path of discovering God's will for our lives, we aren't like many who don't know what to do or who to follow, we have Jesus to follow. Jesus lived on earth and exemplified how we ought to live. This gives us a sense of purpose. At least we have someone to refer to on matters concerning morality, marriage, work etc. Without God's standards firmly rooted in you, you will fall for anything that comes by. And it doesn't even have to come dressed in weird clothes, with horns and big eyes, it may even be fancy but in the end will end up in dest...

What is God's will for your life?

Genesis 1:27-28 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. What on earth are you here for? Who made you and for what purpose? How do you discover God's will for your life because once you do that then you have started living. These are very important identity questions that should not be taken lightly. When you have an answer to them, you will know what to do daily and the kind of decisions you make. It will be hard for you to have conflict in decision making once you establish a clear aim or purpose or call for your life.  Apostle Moses Mukisa once said that there are two very important days in ones life. The first is the day they are born and the second is the day they discover...

Testimony II

Revelation 12:10-11 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Bible says there's another way to overcome the devil, that's by the blood. Remember that the previous verse deals with the devil being the accuser of the brethren. It means there's a way to silence accusations by relying on what Jesus accomplished for us through his shed blood on the cross. What does the blood testify about us or what did we obtain through it that you need to remind the devil whenever he raises his accusatory voice? Five things sanctification (made holy), forgiveness, cleansed, redeemed and justified (made righteous).  Briefly to be redeemed is to be brought back from bondage. The ...

Testimony

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Testimony is also a powerful weapon to offend the devil's attacks. What is it that we are to testify? We testify what the Lord has done for us through his death, burial and resurrection. You see the word of God is truth regardless of what the facts state on the outside.  The Word says we are children of God. Then words to the contrary should not count against you. The Word says you are blessed, you need to agree and say the same. There's nothing that will make the devil flee whenever we testify about the truths in scripture. And moreso when we start walking in them.  It's one thing for us to say we are the healed of the Lord and walking in light of it. There's a common statement which says you can never argue with results unless when you simply deny their authenticity. You can deny or argue all you want but you cannot fight ...

Preaching

Acts 20:20 [And] how I kept back nothing that was profitable [unto you], but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Preaching God's Word is a very powerful weapon to drive out the enemy from our midst. Now it's not only Christians who are out there preaching. Many are preaching all kinds of things. In our day we hear of other faiths holding crusades preaching and also winning converts to their faiths. I cannot forget one video I saw of some satanists calling Jesus a demon. Now that's how far the enemy has gone in advancing his demonic gospel everywhere. It's in our time that men are advocating for all sorts of vices on our pulpits a thing which couldn't be entertained in the disciples day.  In our theme scripture Paul was talking to the elders of Ephesus before leaving for Jerusalem how he had preached the Word to them daily for the three years he had been with them. He saw miracles not a few in Ephesus. So it means God's power ...

Praise

Matthew 21:16 And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? Praise is a weapon a Christian can use too to offend the enemy. When the children of Israel were met with opposition with the walls of Jericho, the weapon they used to bring them down was praise.  What is praise? Praise is lifting up God's awesomeness, fearfulness and wonder. It is glorifying God's name above all else.  The word of God is filled with numerous examples of men of God who through praise overcame the enemy. Paul and Silas when they were imprisoned resorted to praise which resulted in their release from chains.  Jesus quoted Psalm 8:2 which speaks of strength instead of praise. It means when we praise, we release the supernatural power and strength of God on our behalf in the midst of chaos when we use our mouths. The parallel of this is when Satan releases accusations to God's peo...

Prayer

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Prayer is a powerful weapon for a believer can use in offensive warfare. Children of God we need to know what is genuinely ours for the using. We may not have all the money in the world, we may not have the connections but we have prayer. Believe in the power of prayer. Pr Diana Mwebe always says "anything by prayer and nothing without prayer." The promises of God are only effected through prayer. Prayer combats evil. Prayer is one of the weapons that attacks the enemy headon Prayer doesn't substitute the place of the Word, and neither does the Word substitute prayer. All of them have their place. Imagine if the disciples did not pray earnestly when apostle Peter was put in prison and simply resorted to the reading God's Word? Peter wouldn't be released from prison. Imagine if Daniel didn't persist in praye...

Building and battling

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The body of Christ has a great mandate of partnering with Jesus in the work of building His church. But how best can we build if we don't engage in battle? Shall we sit back and simply keep to ourselves as the devil does all the wreckage to the world our their? Rather we need to awaken and battle.  At the back of our minds, we have to know what we carry in the realm of the Spirit. Firstly we have the authority to do so as Matthew 28:18-20 says. Christ delegated this authority to make disciples not to any other entity but the church. Authority is only as good as to the level to which we exercise it. Secondly we have to be aware that we are victorious in Him who overcame the powers of darkness at the cross, Colossians 2:15. The devil was stripped of his armour. He is powerless to do anything except through lies. We thank God that ...

Watch my back

Joel 2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: In all the full armoury of the Roman soldier, he has some one part the Bible doesn't mention as covered. And that's the back. But why wasn't it? Is it intentional? I think in some sense it is because Roman soldiers walked in their ranks, side by side. You were sure one was on your left, right, front and the back. And they knew exactly who was there. They never broke ranks. Those who surrounded them actually were known to each other and in case there was an attack from the back, someone was there to protect it.  This is the perfect picture of a church that is the army of the Lord walking in their ranks, fighting side by side, protecting each other while doing so and not stabbing each other! This is hard in the natural but God is raising a generation that's so respectful of ranks.  Child of God you need to kn...

The sword of the Spirit which is the Word

Ephesians 6:17b and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Roman soldiers used their swords to attack and wound the enemy. Other weapons were to defend him from attack. This is one of those weapons which was used to attack.  The Word on our lips is deadly to the enemy. The words in your Bible won't save you if you cannot verbally utter out in the particular area you face. That's why you need to memorize scripture.  Jesus did not respond to the enemy by affirming his position as the son of God but with the Word. Most children of God have statements like, how can a good Christian go through such snd such a situation? Why did God allow it to happen? Those statements are seemingly okay for baby Christians who keep narrating their Identity, good works or God's sovereignty in the matter. Now all those three are important to have and they have their place but they are the starting point, God expects you to use the very weapons He gave you to attack the enemy and get y...

The helmet of salvation

Ephesians 6:17a And take the helmet of salvation,  What do helmets do? They offer protection to the head of the soldier. It goes deeper than that, the head has a very crucial element called the mind. Remember in the beginning of this series we saw it vividly that spiritual warfare happens primarily in our minds. Satan is out to attack the mind in various forms. In our day, you hear a lot of sicknesses which relate to the mind, mental illness. And what causes these illnesses? Things like stress, depression which attack the mind. People have reached peaks of hopelessness yet they look to be more blessed than their counterparts in yester years. It's an an attack of the mind.  What has come to my mind is this verse in Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Other versions use the word discouraged in your souls. What will overcome such discouragement, distress etc is to have a firm grasp o...

Shield of faith

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Shields served two purposes to protect some parts or whole parts of the body. Meaning there were both small and long shields.  Remember that righteousness comes through faith which faith acts by love. So such a faith which we saw yesterday is a breastplate that protects an individual. There's a common saying I learnt from my wife Pr Daphine that it's a healthy person who is able to work. Everything, ministry, job, socialising, depends on you being perfectly healthy to work. So you need to work on building your faith up so that you stay abreast in this war of life. Some people are still alive but have given up the fight of life. They have no more zeal to go out there to win, expand God's kingdom or even hope for a brighter tomorrow. Their faith was attacked. They are now so lifeless that they even exude negativity. Don't allow yourself to reach su...

Shoes shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace

Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Shoes for a Roman soldier had to be on at all times to provide a certain kind of readiness for battle or at the slightest call of the commander.  We certainly don't know when the Lord will issue a command for us to act or have an answer ready for someone who needs an explanation for the hope of the gospel that we have, but we certainly do need to be ready.  There are so many needs to meet for hurting people all around us. All we need to do is to be ready to be used. God uses the available ones and those who are willing to be used. I always use this analogy that when danger strikes, there's no time to prepare, you simply act. And if in the natural men are ready at the slightest call, why don't you use times of peace to feed on the word, to listen to it, to grasp the truths of the gospel which you will apply when the call happens? My mentor Pr David Ankunda always tells us that preparation time...

Breastplate of righteousness

Ephesians 6:14b and having on the breastplate of righteousness; The other part of the armour the soldiers put on was the breast plate. It did something very important, to protect the soldiers heart.  What's in the heart? Everything. If one's natural heart isn't functioning, that man is dead. It means it's in our power to protect our hearts and hinder it from dying. Bible says in Proverbs 4:23 that we should guard our hearts with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. We need to protect our hearts from selfishness, hurts, offences, bitterness, unforgiveness if we are to serve God well.  Liken it to two people who are deeply in love, they are vibrant, exciting and interested in all that life brings. When one breaks the others heart, it's like life is sucked out of the other. They tend to change completely until they heal of such brokenness.  What's this righteousness that Paul talks about? It's the righteousness of Faith. It's the one we recei...

Loins girt with truth

Ephesians 6:14a Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,  Our clothing these days is no match to a Roman soldier of the day. Instead of a shirt or trouser, a Roman soldier of that time wore one long cloth which stopped at the knee area, something like a kanzu or tunic of our day. Now any clothing like that would not allow him move fast. Now if his speed was hindered, fighting would be difficult. Using other equipment too would be difficult. Girting himself or putting a girdle or belt around his waist would help him accomplish whatever he wanted very fast.  This is what Paul was meaning. If we don't walk in truth, we cannot move fast in doing God's will. Truth also holds us firm and not fear that any discovery in the future will bring down all we have built. If everyone worked towards whatever word they promise, we wouldn't have idle people around. Everyone would mind their business, and not stand watching others attempting to do something for God. For exam...

The armour of God

Ephesians 6:13-17 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: In the spiritual warfare we are in, we need to have ourselves dressed up spiritually to combat the forces of evil. The Bible says we should dress up with God's armour in Ephesians 6:13-17. It is likened to the armour that Roman soldiers used to put on in Paul's day. As we read, you should notice that part of the armour is used by the soldier to defend himself, while the rest is used to attack.  What is this armour? The girdle of truth, the shield representing faith, ...

Not guilty

2 Corinthians 5:14-17 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And [that] he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we [him] no more. Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. You may wonder what I mean with that title. One if Satan's greatest attacks is accusations and this is followed by guilt. Any accusation is not filed for doing good things but for sin. But have you ever accused someone yet they did nothing wrong? It means they are righteous. And this is exactly what we are, hallelujah. He who knew no sin became sin for us that we might be made righteous in Him. Now this righteousness was not on our own merit, it was...

The mind

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; One thing as a believer that should be settled right now is that we are in a spiritual warfare. Think of it as war. Where is it taking place? The scripture above describes imaginations as the things we are waring against and where do they take place, in the mind. This is so simple that everyone should find it easy to understand.  Have you ever found something to be true yet all the while you thought it was false? It means it takes knowledge to break that old thought pattern in order to acquire the new thought pattern. Simply put your imagination, argument, knowledge, speculation, thinking, idea about the matter was wrong in...

The heavenlies

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]. In the book of Ephesians we get to know of the evil forces we are dealing with, which are principalities, powers etc, in the heavenlies.  The heavenlies as some Bible translations point out speaks of the realm of heaven. In this Version it was referred to as high places. The word Heavens as used in Genesis 1:1 itself is a plural of three heavens, the first heaven which is the atmospheric heaven- the one you see, the second heaven is where Satan's seat and all the evil forces dwell and the third heaven which is paradise, a place where God and the where the spirits of those who have died in Christ dwell.  Sometimes what gets our prayers hindered from manifestation is because they are opposed by the evil forces which are in the second heaven like it was for Daniel's case. That's w...

Spiritual Warfare

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].  When we got saved, we became part and parcel of a war not in flesh and blood but spiritual. It happens whether we consciously know of it or not. It's expedient we knew the specifics of what transpires in that realm so that we win in it and in all aspects. It has been said by many that if you win spiritually, you will win physically. And if you lose the battle spiritually, you will lose too physically. Spiritual giants are often giants in the natural.  What is important to note is that in the realm of the spirit, there exists angels, God, the devil, demons and our spirits too. The devil or Satan and demons belong to the kingdom of darkness while God and angels to the kingdom of light. Man either belongs to the devil or God depending on whether they have accepted salvation. If they...

Renounce all former attachments

Isaiah 52:11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean [thing]; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. Before coming to the Lord, we find ourselves attached to various things, some occults, secret societies, fetishes, witchcraft etc. Some unknowingly after salvation make  points of contact with such groups through music, objects, artifacts, certain designs on clothes, the music, films watched, rings, books etc. which are sometimes the cause of curses to believers. Some of those things are portals to the underworld we shouldn't ignore.  The devil has done pretty well to decampaign his moves by propagating such thinking that everything is harmless, it's you the user's conscience that's the issue. Our conscience true should be alert. I can't blind my conscience when I see an idol in your house and I am not awakened to the kind of god you are worshipping!  The Bible warns us in the book of Isaiah not to touch a...

Forgiveness

Matthew 6:12, 14 (GNT) Forgive us the wrongs we have done, as we forgive the wrongs that others have done to us. “If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you. One of the key steps towards total deliverance in every area of life is when one walks in forgiveness. There are times when people cannot get healed or get breakthroughs unless they forgive others who have wronged them in the past. Forgiveness is to release another person of the wrong they did you. It is to get rid of negative emotions you may have towards another person for having done you bad. Maybe that person is the one who is the cause of the curse that is running in your family, forgive them.  It's humble people who can easily forgive. And humility too comes by the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself said if you don't forgive, your heavenly father won't forgive you. Now this is serious. If your heavenly Father forgave you of your sins, is it too much for you to forg...

Confession of your faith in Christ

Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, Christ is the high priest of our confession. We ought to confess His Word when we are going through trials, temptations and even when facing curses. Confess your faith and not your doubts. Confess the solution, not the problem. Confess the Word, not mere words. This will set you up for victory in every area instead of failure you may be facing.  Confession is like planting seeds. They later grow to become trees and plants after a while. There's therefore a time aspect related to seeing what we want to see come to pass. Pr. Diana Mwebe always tells us a closed mouth is a closed destiny. You cannot afford to keep quiet when you can do something about the cursed situation you might find yourself in. It is also good to take authority against the curse by speaking against it through binding and loosing. The bible says whatsoever you bind on eart...
