Walk by the Book
Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
This scripture has another parallel which should apply to us as we are on a journey to discover and walk in God's will in our lives. It says Jesus came in the volume of the book. It doesn't say that Jesus came and do whatever He found useful or necessary or logical or something that pleases man. Rather He came to fulfil whatever was already written in God's word. He only had to discover it through the Word.
When the Bible says He grew in wisdom and stature, it means his natural mind had to be educated about who He really was in his Spirit. Wisdom being the right application of knowledge, it also implies that He came to grasp that He was God in flesh, He was to die on the cross, that He was about his father's business etc and whatever those revelations required to be fulfilled.
There's something written about us in God's Word we need to search out and discover. This is true about children. A child at 4 years is not at the same level of understanding as one at 18. It's still the same person but their level of knowledge exposure is different. The one at 4 may have a clue of what they want to be in future yet do not know what it will take to get there. I remember I had a dream from a tender age of becoming an architect. It's what I wanted and pursued that line. Reaching secondary school I was enrolled in a school which didn't have Technical Drawing (TD) and yet I didn't want to do Art. I made requests to my father to change to another school which had TD but it wasn't feasible financially. It broke my heart but I was told if I pursued engineering, it has a drawing aspect of it and yet one was not required to do TD or Art as a must. That's the career change I took right from Senior One, which was similar to my childhood dream. I knew what I wanted but I didn't know what it took to get there.
I have heard similar stories of other colleagues who from childhood had a glimpse of what they desired to be and embarked on it. Such a one knows they are called for such a profession and that no body forces it on them.
What's my point, Jesus at 12 had a clue of what He was born to do. He grew in knowledge of the same. If we get to know our earthly professions from a tender age, I believe when we get saved, God gives us clues of what He has pre-planned for us in the future. There's a spiritual destiny for each one of us. You need to discover it and pursue it through the Word of God.
