Love

Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. There are two kinds of love, human love and the God kind of love. The two are totally different when you differentiate the characteristics. Only Christians are capable of loving their neighbours with the God kind of love because it has been shade abroad in their hearts by the Holy Spirit. They can also love with the human kind of love which enables them to relate with fellow humans. The non believer on the other hand has only the human kind of love at his disposal. He cannot love like God loves. Because his spirit is dead, he can only love as far as his senses, emotions and the mind can lead him.   If one only loves with the human kind of love, the love for their neighbour they had yesterday can quickly change into hatred the following day. Knowledge of God's word and allowing it to dominate you can enable believers be patient, kind, not ...

Imagination of the thoughts of the heart

(Gen 6:5)  And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. What are imaginations? Strong’s dictionary defines them as, “to mould into a form or to squeeze into shape. It also means to determine or form a resolution.” What comes out of such a process are images or pictures playing in one’s mind as a result of what man thinks about. Thoughts whether good or bad create images of what is to come before it actually comes to pass. A man can sit there with fearful thoughts and starts to imagine vain things about what is to come. They imagine how something will not work out, how they will fall into an accident, how they might die etc. thus weakening their faith and expectations. They simply resolve that something will not work out based on the wrong imaginations they have created in their hearts. We might say it is not bad to consider what might or might not work and objectively find wa...

Commitment

(Joh n 2:23 -25 )  Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. Jesus did not commit Himself to those who had just believed in Him because he knew the nature of man. Man can be unreliable where situations do not favour him.   After getting born again, one enters a lifelong journey of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ. This journey shapes a believer into a mature Christian who is able to discern both good and evil. Baby Christians as the Bible says are in need of milk, not the meat of the word of God. It is not good to thrust them immediately into the ministry because they are novices. Secondly pride is likely to build up in them because of such a quick promotion which leads to their fall easily for pride comes before the fall. There are ...

Your own company

(Act 4:23)  And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. Every Christian is surrounded by what we call the terms their “own company.” We see the that in the book of Acts that Peter and John after being released from trial for preaching in the name of Jesus and healing a lame man went to their own company who received them and prayed with them. As we do ministry, we are being opposed by forces in the unseen realm and these forces influence human beings who also persecute us in the process. In the process of doing so, we are wearied by this opposition. But where do we get refreshed as that happens, from our own company. Soldiers have barracks where they regroup, get treatment, get rest and refreshments, professionals have professional bodies to defend them in case things go bad, in the natural we have biological families which defend us when we run into trouble, Christians do have brothers and si...

Reigning in life

(Rom 5:17)  For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) In our scripture reference, the one man’s offence by which death reigned was Adam’s sin. Death is not only physical death but also the effects, forms and the results of death such as sickness, disease, lack, poverty, etc. It is through the spiritual death that physical death resulted. Man was not going to die physically if he hadn’t died spiritually. Death means separation. Man’s spirit was separated from the life of God in the beginning. When Jesus came, life rules in those who come to Him because now their spirits are born again and are in perfect union with the very Spirit of God. The Christian now reigns over poverty, disease, sickness, lack, because of the life of God is in Him. Something to note also in that scripture is that we received and abundance of grace and righteousness as a...

Envy and strife

James 3:16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work. The bible says where envy and strife is, there's confusion and every evil work. I have come to prove this scripture very true. Many relationships are broken because of envy and strife. Many ventures or dreams cannot get off the ground because of envy and strife.  So and so cannot work with so and so because of one having offended another in the past has not caused many problems but a few. There cannot be orderliness or progress in any thing if there is envy and strife. Struggle to be ahead, hidden and unresolved issues and a desire for supremacy and power has led to unnecessary strife and envy among families, friends and in church too! If men would walk in love with one another, we would see victory from every side.  Love is not selfish, envious and is not proud. If you really let the God kind of love work in your life, you wouldn't allow strife and envy dominate you as a believer.  Lo...

Think about others

Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired [to have] you, that he may sift [you] as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. It is the spirit of the age we are living in for men to be selfish and express a lack of care for others. We see it on our roads when everyone wants to have right of way and this has led to accidents not a few. Some drivers are so arrogant and use foul language every now and then. At that point the world is rotating around them and they don't mind about others. It is common for a believer not to care about the survival of the church by not paying their tithes but consume all the money on themselves. They have a nonchalant attitude that God will provide for His church nevertheless. That is ignorance about how God's working on the earth. Your finances are a sign that you believe in what the local church body is doing and you want it to advance. When a gro...

Decisions

Ruth 1:14-18 And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her. And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, [or] to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people [shall be] my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, [if ought] but death part thee and me. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her. If you are in your 20s and 30s and you are reading this post, think about a time when you are 50+, what will you be then? How will life, work and ministry be like to you? Where will you be living? Abroad or in the country your in now? To whom will you be married to in case you aren't married currently? Wil...

Lines of responsibility

2Kings 6:14-17 So [the Syrian king] sent there horses, chariots, and a great army. They came by night and surrounded the city. When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. Elisha's servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do? [Elisha] answered, Fear not; for those with us are more than those with them. Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the young man's eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Man usually doesn't want to take responsibility for the things that are happening in their lives because of wrong thinking and wrong believing and wrong acting.  For instance God has done all He could in His power to provide salvation for mankind by sending Jesus to die for us. But we are responsible to believe in what God did through sending His son to die for us for it to be effectua...

Keep inspired to inspire

Ezekiel 2:2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. I have had times before when I got on fire for God and then moments when am so cold. I have got times when I love to pray, read the word, preach the gospel and at other times when the thought of any of those just makes me feel it's a mountain to climb to do those things.  There are times in my past when we went for a week on mission ground and all week was stuffed with gospel related activities and it was easy enough to preach, teach, pray, evangelise or even do bible study but immediately when that week was over and am on my own at home I couldn't sustain those very things.  Why was that so? Christianity to me then was out of the influence of a corporate anointing and not personal. Of course when you are many you are easily influenced by others and the flesh or self doesn't want to be "exposed" for what it truly is so it puts up a good s...

The competent believer

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Many a times we hear from the pulpits that a Christian should be one of good character and morally sound and that is known by most believers and strive to live in the best way they could. No wonder the phrase "what would Christ do?" If it were Him in a particular scenario. Although this is good, Christians are ignorant about them being well equipped and competent enough to represent Jesus fully to the dying world around them. The christian should bear the competence to disciple others. The "do as I say and not as I do" thinking cannot work in this instance because you have people who look up to you for guidance and inspiration. No longer will you live a life which is selfish, but one which is a living example to the rest.  Paul admonished Timothy to teach the things he had learned of Paul among many witnesses. No...

Discipleship

Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Discipleship is a call to be like Christ in everything. It is a place where one is invited into a covenant relationship with God but as well accept the responsibility of representing Him to others in the world. No one was born as a disciple. Rather everyone after becoming born again starts a journey of becoming a lifelong learner of the Lord Jesus Christ.  How did Jesus disciple others? He did what Mike Breene describes as invitation and challenge relationship. By invitation He drew his disciples into a close relationship with himself where they were loved and cared for. By challenge He sent them out to preach and represent him out into the world. For example Jesus healed Peter's mother in law, helped him catch net breaking fish, paid his tax, but as well challenged him to feed his sheep and feed his lambs. Peter did exactly that.  It is one thing to be born again and another to be a lifelong l...

Leadership

Joshua 1:1-2 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. Leadership has been simply defined by many as influence and not position.  For the years I have served as a leader in Christian ministry, I have come to understand that leadership/influence is not permanent. It switches every now and then. Ministries and Christain movements that used to be commanding masses in the past are currently a shadow of their past. We thank God for those men that God has raised before and who served their generations mightily. It was hard for their predecessors to do the same simply because they occupied the position they had or they were of natural decent say like their biological sons and daughters.  Anointing is not passed through fl...

The church family

Ephesians 3:14-15 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, Church is one big family of God where He is the head and we are His children. Church started meeting in the temple as well as in homes. Families in the world are breaking every now and then. Others are dysfunctional. It is not rare to hear of single mothers, or father's, orphans, etc. What has God done about it? God has given us the gift of the church family. The church is the solution to our hurts due to broken families. How then should we treat the church, we should treat it as one  family built by God. What makes a good family? The rhythms and activities in the family. There is time when families ought to eat together, play together, pray together etc. If these things are done and one person regularly misses, then there is a problem. Likewise if a family activity is called and only one person attends while the rest are going about ...

The evil of Perfectionism

(1Pe 5:10)  But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. I have seen many a Christian fearful of joining ministry because of the evil of perfectionism. This is quite common because many think they are not good enough or worthy enough to do anything for God. This should not be a hindrance. But unfortunately, it is. We all live once. None has ever lived in time past and is back again living in the present. At least we are having an equal footing there. Since none has been here before and no one can claim they are perfectly fit for God to use them. Like Andrew Wommack, normally says, no one has ever been perfectly fit for God to use them. Everyone had a fault somewhere somehow except for someone like Joseph. The rest had issues. Moses was a stammerer, Abraham had fears in telling the truth, the same with Isaac and Jacob, Gideon saw himself as nothin...

Double Honour

1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. God's work on the earth is propagated by men and women who have given their lives for it. These men need to be accorded double Honour. Meaning if you honour others in a measure, do it twice as much to the men and women who labour among you in word and doctrine. But the Bible is specific to those who do well among you. Meaning they are not entitled to that honour because they are men of God but because of the input they have had in our lives. Personally I have been touched by the messages and advice of my man of God. They have molded my character, improved my livelihood and changed my entire outlook towards life. The stability, purpose for life, impact I have been able to have on others are all attributed to my man of God. Remember this is one person. I have many instructors in the  word and doctrine but I have a few father's. But the man of ...

Ranks

Joel 2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: The world today has advocated for everyone's rights in all manner of categories or group one may be found in. Everyone's voice is raised to match another's. Minority groups have taken advantage to promote all forms of vices and evil which the bible denouces.  When it comes to the body of Christ, the congregation rises up to oppose the pastor in the name of all of us are equal. Now let's not be deceived, the word of the president cannot be equal to the word of a civilian. A rich man's word is weightier than that of a poor man. Why? It's called rank.  The world has placed ranks everywhere, even in the spirit realm, there are ranks. We are not all equal when it comes to achievements, anointings and giftings, no way! Otherwise if that is not done, then everyone's word will be held in high esteem and...

God rewards us openly

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. God can do things out of the Normal order. He can do something beyond science. He can do something beyond technology. He can do something beyond the biological time. This was the same with Mary when she conceived Jesus without the normal human way via intercourse. It was beyond their intellect. The surprising bit was that God made sure that the miracle was visible and seen by everybody (God loves exposure).  God will make you visible. He will do a work in you in that secret place but he will reward you in the open. Results will be seen by all in the open. We serve a God who rewards us in the open. Although the intercourse between a man and a woman is done in private, the result of it, the pregnancy is visible to all. You don't need to inform all how you are seeking God faithfully or serving Him in private a...

Mind your own business

Matthew 7:3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Do you know that you are your own business to look after? Why do I say so. Because there is a lot of things about you you are ignorant of. First you don't know who you are and what God made you to be. Secondly you don't know what you carry. Third you don't have a clear vision of your life. How come you have all the time to mind other people's business except yours. Moreover you take the place of a judge to see what is not done well and voice it out to be corrected. It's high time you did a self examination. Get to know who you are, know your weakness and find ways of improving in different areas of your life. You can't change what you don't know. If you do that self evaluation, you will realize how God has loved you despite your failings, how people have tolerated with your weaknesses. After doing so you will extend the same mercy and grace ...

Don't waste your time and youthfulness

Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: Time is a resource we often take for granted. We waste it on a daily basis yet it is scarce. Once time is lost it can't be regained yet it is an independent variable used to measure anything and everything in Life. God is not pleased when we waste time. The Bible says there is time for everything. This calls for time management if you are to be effective in whatever you're doing. If the project is for 3 months, do it in those months and go for another project. Doing this will enable you accomplish more in a little time. Remember that each second and minute counts. We only have 24 hrs in the day, we only have particular days in the month, they won't increase or decrease. Just learn to value time you will use it effectively. You can command your day by assigning each time in your day with something to do and fight to do it. This will help you do valuable things in the day, you w...

His word can't go back void

Matthew 1:22-23 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying ["Behold,] [ the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,"] which is translated, "God with us." It took years for this word to come to pass before Jesus was conceived in the womb of Mary. Nevertheless it had to come to pass. Sometimes life can be so hard and we end up giving up on what the Lord said to us. God is true to His word, it will always come to pass. You just need the virtue of being patient as you are waiting on the Lord. Which word has God given you or which word did God give you? Do you know that what he gave you was a seed? You need to plant it, water it. Your work is not to worry when it shall come to pass. Do your work. His word can't go back void.  DK

Set your priorities right

Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? What is your next priority after God? I have heard said more than once that God first, family second and ministry last.  I wonder whether that was true with our fathers in the faith. When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, if he had family as second priority then  He might have missed God. David would have considered Micah's opinion top priority when she confronted him for dancing like a common man before the people yet he was the king. Jonathan would have sided with Saul his father when he wanted to kill David. Job too would have heeded his wife's opinion to curse God and die. Our Lord Jesus, if He loved family more than God and his ministry, He wouldn't have said that His true family were those seated under His ministry listening to Him. No wonder at 12 years he was so consumed with His father's business that he forgot about his family when time ...

Forgiveness

Genesis 32:20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob [is] behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goeth before me, and afterward I will see his face; peradventure he will accept of me. It's a tendency in Christians to annoy or  harm others and move on as if nothing happened. But this is not the example our fathers set for us.  In Genesis 32, Jacob prepared to meet his brother Esau with a gift. This was meant to appease Esau's anger since the time he had stolen his birthright. It shows he was repentant and was seeking forgiveness. After that Act, he met God and his name was changed from supplanter to Israel. This change affected his whole life and for his descendants.  But we see Christians so defensive of their position and seeking to justify why they cannot forgive or rather ask for forgiveness. This is pride. Even when you were the one who was hurt, don't even try to punish the other person by withholding your forgiveness when they have ...
