Set your priorities right

Luke 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

What is your next priority after God? I have heard said more than once that God first, family second and ministry last.

I wonder whether that was true with our fathers in the faith. When Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac, if he had family as second priority then  He might have missed God. David would have considered Micah's opinion top priority when she confronted him for dancing like a common man before the people yet he was the king. Jonathan would have sided with Saul his father when he wanted to kill David. Job too would have heeded his wife's opinion to curse God and die. Our Lord Jesus, if He loved family more than God and his ministry, He wouldn't have said that His true family were those seated under His ministry listening to Him. No wonder at 12 years he was so consumed with His father's business that he forgot about his family when time reached to go home with his parents!

What am I trying to say, ministry to God should come before anything else including family.

Another common priority list which shouldn't bother a true christian is God first, others second and you last. But this is not so common in this me generation which thinks about others last. It's common to see people say they love themselves too much without a care of others. Others because of their misplaced priorities have difficulty to love others because their 'self' is in the way! In loving God, and others selflessly, God will be pleased. I don't mean you hate yourself, what I mean is consider yourself last, and God will meet your every need.

Ministry is a demonstration of our love for God and this includes service to God and fellow man.  It is an outflow of what's in our hearts. If you are to live a life which is fully pleasing to God and fulfill the call of God on your life, then sort your priorities. Don't even have any bit of worry how all will turn out in case you put ministry ahead of family or others ahead of yourself, God will take care of them and you much better than you would if it was all in your own wisdom and strength!
