Double Honour
1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
God's work on the earth is propagated by men and women who have given their lives for it.
These men need to be accorded double Honour. Meaning if you honour others in a measure, do it twice as much to the men and women who labour among you in word and doctrine.
But the Bible is specific to those who do well among you. Meaning they are not entitled to that honour because they are men of God but because of the input they have had in our lives.
Personally I have been touched by the messages and advice of my man of God. They have molded my character, improved my livelihood and changed my entire outlook towards life. The stability, purpose for life, impact I have been able to have on others are all attributed to my man of God. Remember this is one person. I have many instructors in the word and doctrine but I have a few father's. But the man of God in question am particularly referring to is your local pastor or shepherd.
That local pastor is there for you when you're sick, troubled, confused, stressed, in need of direction, in good and sad times, offer counselling, financial advice etc. Like they say you need a family or personal lawyer, family or personal doctor who is good and proven, you also need a good pastor who will take care of you spiritually and other aspects of life.
I am a product of the love and care of one. You need to get one too.
Who is your local pastor? Are you in touch with him? Does he or she know you in depth? Are you accountable to him or her? You better have one or pray that God leads you to one, and accord them double Honour. Therein your life will not remain the same again.
