Testimony II
Revelation 12:10-11 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Bible says there's another way to overcome the devil, that's by the blood. Remember that the previous verse deals with the devil being the accuser of the brethren. It means there's a way to silence accusations by relying on what Jesus accomplished for us through his shed blood on the cross. What does the blood testify about us or what did we obtain through it that you need to remind the devil whenever he raises his accusatory voice? Five things sanctification (made holy), forgiveness, cleansed, redeemed and justified (made righteous).
Briefly to be redeemed is to be brought back from bondage. The word was used whenever one traded something for another. Men used to redeem slaves with money, and also get back what was originally theirs by simply redeeming it.
Sanctification is to be made holy. Holy means to be separate for God's use. Holy bread, holy items, holy temple. There's common bread, there are common items, and common temples, but those which were separated for God's use were termed holy. God has separated you and me to be His kings and priests.
Forgiveness is to let go of one's debts or sins. God was just, He didn't forgive man without exercising justice or without sin being paid for. Someone had to pay for man's freedom and that was Jesus. Jesus died in our place for our freedom.
Justified or being made righteous means to be declared as one who has never sinned before.
Cleansing means washing. Now we were cleansed once and for all but that very cleansing didn't stop then, it's continuous whenever we find ourselves wallowing in the dirt or sin, the blood does the cleansing. I don't think when you bathe on Monday, you won't bathe on Tuesday. You need to bathe on other days too because of dirt. This continuous effect also applies to the other four things described above. All the five things have been accomplished in the past by Jesus but come into effect the day you get saved and also continue to do their work daily. We are daily being transformed into the image of Christ. The perfection in the souls and the flesh happens as we grow in God's Word and yet we are already perfect in our spirits through Jesus.
Thank God for the blood.
