Shoes shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace

Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Shoes for a Roman soldier had to be on at all times to provide a certain kind of readiness for battle or at the slightest call of the commander.

We certainly don't know when the Lord will issue a command for us to act or have an answer ready for someone who needs an explanation for the hope of the gospel that we have, but we certainly do need to be ready.

There are so many needs to meet for hurting people all around us. All we need to do is to be ready to be used. God uses the available ones and those who are willing to be used. I always use this analogy that when danger strikes, there's no time to prepare, you simply act. And if in the natural men are ready at the slightest call, why don't you use times of peace to feed on the word, to listen to it, to grasp the truths of the gospel which you will apply when the call happens? My mentor Pr David Ankunda always tells us that preparation time is never wasted time and that every time is your opportunity to prepare. You cannot afford to lax when the enemy is not.

And the gospel is one of peace. We give what we have. If we experience peace between us and God, we shall definitely give it out. If we don't we shall not feel obliged to give it out. God is no longer at war with us, His justice was met by the death of Christ at the cross. So we are at peace with Him. No longer are we enemies with God, hallelujah.

Once the believer grasps that revelation, he will always be on the go to share it. One sign of backsliding Christians is that they are not willing to share the good news of how God saved them, and neither care to find out how best they can share it. When they meet a tough question from a religious man whom they are trying to witness to, they give up forever. No way! That's not our kind. We should seek answers to those tough questions so that at any other time we encounter a similar question we are ready with an answer.
