Release yourself
Many people have had relatively straight or obvious lives so they may not understand when I persistently write to encourage those who are depressed, stuck or are not making progress in most areas of life. By straight I mean after finishing school without having repeated a class, or not attending because of school fees, they immediately got a job, then got a spouse, got married, have had children, bought property etc. So such a man or woman by 35 years or less on average they look successful. They may not understand this blog or others I have been writing about. God has called me to encourage those who at some point lost it in the race of life or are currently losing it because of some failure previously encountered or currently facing.
I remember talking to a friend who told me that when he was about to sit a major exam, he was accused of escaping outside the school. They took him to police and was told to report to school with a policeman everyday when doing a paper. Since then his life changed. He scored low marks, got judged by family members on how he could do such a thing except his parents and lost friends who never thought he would do such a thing. It set him back, couldn't go to do the course he desired and ended up doing other things different from what he anticipated. Praise God he picked up the pieces and moved on to continue with studies and try out other avenues of work, some actually don't. Instead they get paralyzed all their lives, coil in and start doing destructive habits, join bad company, which hurts them the more.
Such a one and many other examples I can write on here is what I call a not so straight or obvious life. Our Bishop Gerald Mwebe says of such as "when life happens." Life can happen to you. An evil day can dawn on you and never leave you the same. Bible says in Ephesians 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
You may want to progress but because in your past you have encountered an evil day through failure, hurt or rejection, you are hindered from advancing. It doesn't matter what you have been through, God is asking you to release yourself and walk once again! Infact run ahead. Don't allow failure dictate your future. Don't allow it to suck up your joy. Am writing to encourage you today, release yourself, release yourself. God has done everything in His power to release you by sending Jesus to die for your sins, take on your sorrows and burdens. It's now upon you to appropriate that victory in your life and circumstances.
Have you thought about it before that any hindrance to our progress starts in our way of thinking and actions? Simply put on a new mind everytime an evil thought to keep you back whispers at you. You may also need to slow down and take on one thing at a time, to win small victories daily which will lead to bigger victories. For example to pick up encouraging scriptures daily to meditate on, enroll for a short course to further your studies, to block a certain friend who is pulling you back or to change the entire gang of friends you hang around with, join a church or small group and start actively serving in it etc. The number one enemy to your progress is when you isolate yourself. Don't allow yourself to be in isolation. That will only keep you focused on self and your past instead of your great life ahead. All these listed and more are what I call the baby steps to releasing your self.
Remember the two major steps to releasing your self is that first it starts with changing your way of thinking. Secondly change your way of life/actions. Child of God, don't linger anymore, don't wait, get moving, do things which will hasten your release! Hallelujah.
