Leadership

Joshua 1:1-2 Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

Leadership has been simply defined by many as influence and not position.

For the years I have served as a leader in Christian ministry, I have come to understand that leadership/influence is not permanent. It switches every now and then. Ministries and Christain movements that used to be commanding masses in the past are currently a shadow of their past. We thank God for those men that God has raised before and who served their generations mightily. It was hard for their predecessors to do the same simply because they occupied the position they had or they were of natural decent say like their biological sons and daughters.

Anointing is not passed through flesh and blood but as God wills. It is also not passed through one taking on someone's position. The new leader occupying the position has to gain enough clout to influence the masses just like the former person did. This makes leadership very dynamic and open to all. Joshua in our theme scripture had his own share of infleunce over the people he had to do in order to lead the people of Israel after the death of Moses. King Rehoboam could not lead the people well after the death of King Solomon. He had to influence them and not force them.

Don't think that since you were respected and influenced a group of people previously, you will still be respected or be of influence over them forever. People do forget. Influence has to be maintained among the people of God by constantly ministering to them. If you did minister last week or last year and think you will still hold a place in their hearts then you are deceived.

For that reason we keep preaching, teaching, visiting, organise this event and the other event to keep influencing the people because if we don't, someone else is doing so. The devil is constantly influencing the masses through new songs, movies which are full of lust, hatred, immorality etc. and yet they cost those artists millions of dollars. Every year something new is coming up . Why do shepherds then stop visiting, calling the sheep, checking on them, preaching, teaching and healing them yet the adversary is ever bombarding them at all fronts?

Children of God we need to keep at it. We cannot say that we have done enough. No. We haven't done anything yet, infact we haven't even started. Influence more and more and not give up. See yourself influencing for the long haul, not just temporarily. See yourself spending and being spent for the gospel for the rest of your life. Forget that you were even a scripture union chairperson before, forget that you served as an usher in last year's event, infact when you look closely, you were simply occupying a position given to you by an authority. But having the position is different from leading or influencing the people under you. Christian leadership is not like managing a department in a company where people have to loyal to you because you are the boss at the moment. In fact you are the boss because someone put you there. The moment you are dismissed, no one will be loyal to you any longer.

For that reason we need to take on great resolve to overcome every huddle in the way so that we reach the people and keep influencing the people. Some of those huddles are devil orchestrated to keep us shut or hinder us.

If you don't keep influencing, you will be divinely replaced by another who will be willing and obedient to do it.
