Redemption

Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Redemption is a term best understood as buying back what was yours in the first place. The Bible has defined  Redemption in our theme scripture as the forgiveness of sins.

When man committed the sin in the garden of Eden, man became a slave to sin and a servant to the devil. Many argue that if God is powerful, why couldn't He just destroy the evil or the devil or man Himself and start allover again with a brand new race?  What they do forget is that God had given man authority to be his vice reagent here on earth. Vice reagent means ambassador or representative or co-ruler. God being a keeper of His Word didn't take back that authority even when man committed the highest treason and surrendered it to the devil.

The Bible says the heavens belong to the Lord and the earth belongs to man, Psalms 115:16. Although this scripture is not in Genesis, God is an eternal God and His principles are eternal. This means that even in Genesis the devil knew if He can only take residence in man, corrupt his spirit so that it dies and is separated from God, it had to take God himself to take on the form of man to pay for the wages of sin which death.

God is a Spirit, Spirits don't die. God became a man so that He could die for us. Sinless man Jesus Christ was the lamb that was slain to buy us back to God. We were indebted to God and couldn't pay for our sins because no one was ever worthy to die for a fellow man. Only Jesus, sinless in his spirit and body could. He exchanged the righteousness He obtained by being obedient to the Law of Moses and took our faults, sin and failure. We have our redemption, through His blood, the forgiveness of our sins, hallelujah!

The whole human race's sins have been forgiven. God is not angry at man because of sins. We are in the dispensation of Grace. What then will take men to hell? Unbelief. If man willingly fell into the rulership of the devil, man has to willingly from the heart accept they are sinners and receive forgiveness for their sins by faith in the Lord Jesus, John 16:7-9 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: _Of sin, because they believe not on me_. We don't ask God to forgive us, we receive the forgiveness He has granted through His death, burial and resurrection when we come to Him through our broken and contrite hearts. This is the good news you can't afford to keep silent about!
