Righteousness
Romans 10:10 For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.
Simply defined as the state of being right before God. There are two kinds of righteousness the Bible talks about. First is the righteousness according to faith and the righteousness according to works. Many christians are familiar with the righteousness according to works.
That righteousness according to works is what we have to perform on a daily basis so that we can live in harmony with fellow man in the community. If you lack such righteousness you will always hang behind prison for stealing, murder, etc.
The righteousness according to faith is what a born again believer receives at the new birth. It is the very righteousness which Jesus has. Since He walked perfectly before God and man, Jesus attained both righteousness and imparts the same to anyone who believes in Him.
There's therefore no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, why because we have been acquitted of shame, guilt and condemnation. We are made right with God hallelujah. I have realised that Christians cannot accomplish much in the kingdom because they feel they have to perfect their ways thoroughly before attempting to preach the same to others. What they forget is that their sin record has been erased. They are free. Spiritually speaking, the way God sees Jesus, is the same way He sees Christians. We are righteous, hallelujah.
Let no one condemn you about your past, walk according to this knowledge that you're righteous. Sometimes it's our hearts which condemn us, set yourself free from self condemnation too because God is greater than our hearts, 1 John 3:20. What He says about you should take precedence over all.
Christians who confess boldly that they are righteous end up becoming more righteous in their deeds accidentally than they would have been if they aimed to be righteous on purpose. That's my story. Whenever I tried to live out purposefully, ticking off what I had to do and what is didn't, I always failed as compared to when I lived in rejoicing in the fact that am righteous.
I meditated on scriptures like How can a dog return to it's vomit? How can I who is putting on a white garment go dirty it so easily as one who's putting on black? On my end I valued what I had and walked in the light of it rather than trying to achieve it through effort.
Stop striving to attain righteousness, you are the righteous one who is living it out daily, hallelujah!
