What would you be remembered for I?

Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

There many things we want and desire to do in this world. It's good to step back, and look ahead of time and wonder if I was no longer alive, what would be that one or a few things we would like to be remembered for? When you do that, you actually write your own story before someone else writes it on your behalf.

Taking the example of Jesus, He was a man and God in flesh whom the Bible writes about a number of things.

He was a carpenter and a son to a carpenter. The Bible makes no error in noting certain truths. This talks about work we all know. Be known at the end of your life for a skill you knew and knew so well. The Bible condemns laziness. He who won't work, shouldn't eat, the Bible says. Get involved in meaningful and decent work. Youths of today are so much into betting, that's not meaningful work. The first thing man was given above all else was work. So love to work in order to meet your needs. If you don't work, you will simply desire to have certain things and end up stealing.

Second thing we remember Jesus for was that He was a preacher, teacher and a healer. He transitioned from being a carpenter to doing  full-time kingdom work of preaching, teaching and healing. At one point everyone should desire to do ministry full-time. It's good to be a part-time volunteer in church activities but it's better to go all out and devote your time fully to the ministry. But the world won't make it easy for you to do so. Pharaoh, a representation of the world system, didn't want the children of Israel to go all out and worship their God in the wilderness. At some point he didn't want the animals, women and children to go but Moses and Aaron stood their ground. At another point he wanted them to go do it for only a few days and return. We have to determine to go fulltime in the ministry.

Jesus was remembered as a man full of compassion. Compassion enabled Him feed the hungry, heal the seek etc. You can't do God's work well if you lack compassion. Compassion should move you to help the needy, remember those in prison, hospitals etc. Compassion less Christians are quick to cast blame or even accuse others for being lazy as a cause of their condition. They are so judgemental and always finding reasons to justify their not doing certain acts of compassion.

Jesus is rembered for having friends. He not only did life with the disciples but he had Martha, Mary and Lazarus as friends. Martha served Jesus meals, Mary always sat at the feet of Jesus to hear him, she also poured anointing Oil on his feet worth more than a Year's wage. He raised Lazarus from the dead. Bible records that Jesus loved Martha, Mary and Lazarus. This is key. Don't be a recipient of love and don't love back. It's being parasitical. Love is two way, give love to receive love, and receive love to give love. At the end of the day, after work and the fatigue of ministry, you need people you can talk to, encourage you and support you in your ministry. Sometimes we look for such friends in the wrong places yet God has prepared them for us as we do the ministry. The disciples asked Jesus, what shall we gain after leaving behind our families, houses, lands? He promised them a one hundred return of all they had lost. Don't be scared if some don't buy into the Vision God has given you, simply move and God will add to you better ones who believe in you and your Godly cause.

Purpose to leave a mark which will echo through eternity for all to read and be blessed by it.
