Breaking free of curses

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

We have covered extensively about curses in the past weeks but how do we break free? It's not okay to be empowered with the knowledge of what's not okay, it's good to know how to sort it right and the new testament believer is fully equipped with such powere to do so. I remember writing previously that why would God reveal that the devil is behind disease, miscarriages, family breakdowns if the children of Israel were not yet mature to comprehend such information in their hearts which were not spiritually developed? They were immature then. To us we are able to comprehend the full scope because we have the Holy Spirit to give us such understanding. No wonder the Bible says The devil came to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus came that we may have life and have it more abundantly.

Now there are those who bury themselves in the sand and yet their backs are out, in their mind they think they are covered thoroughly yet they aren't. Then there are others who are covered and they aren't even aware that they are. Am not talking about those. Am addressing those who know or are aware that there's a problem and genuinely want to break free. That's a mark of a mature man. Now this is not to give you a five point or ten point summary for you to run with but to give you a foundation to build on.

First things first let scripture have first place in your life. Believe in it and confess it. Gal 3:13 the Bible says Christ has delivered us from the curse of the law. The bible says too whosoever the son sets free is free indeed. On legal grounds the curse of the law was broken. We are free of all curses. Why then do some patterns continually manifest in people's lives? It means we need to move from the legal aspect of our deliverance to the experiential side of it. It's one thing to have the will of your father saying you are the rightful owner of the estate he left you and it's another thing to possess it. There are ways we can possess the blessing. By appropriating the freedom God gave us in our day to day lives. But again scripture before even scripture becoming a weapon you pick up to shoot the enemy, let it be food for your soul. Don't just pick up scripture because you have a need or want to solve a problem, let the Word be your life. Live it, dream it, and be it. God is pleased when you take the Word daily as food for your soul. Later on, you may not even realize that certain patterns have broken because you are so minded about the Word and you want to obey it.

The curse talked of in Galatians 3:13 is of disobedience to the law of Moses. But now it's not only the principles laid out in the first five books we are to read and walk by but all the 66 books. It means in the natural it takes more effort to live the life of faith now than it was in Moses' time. But if you first embrace God as your father and friend, fall deep in love with the Word of his Grace, you will more accidentally walk in obedience more than you would ever do on purpose.

If you love God, you will love the Word. If you love deliverance more than God and his word, you are likened to a woman who enters marriage with an intention of getting the man's riches and yet not love the man. With time the truth comes out, and that will not be good on her side. No wonder those were the days when our prayers were only about deliverance from curses. But when your love for God exceeds your selfish love to get delivered, you will get more than you ever asked for, God Himself, hallelujah!
