Repentance
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Repentance is one of the things that should be fulfilled to break curses. One has to be so humble to repent. It has been taught heavily to repent on behalf of your ancestors for the wrongs they did that do affect us in the present. As harmless as that teaching is, it forgets to note that Ezekiel 18:4 which states that the sinner shall die or bear the consequences of their sin. No more according to God are the effects of sin supposed to fall upon the fourth generation unless the believer is ignorant about such a fact and uses scripture itself to harm themselves.
Now what is true repentance? It's the change of mind accompanied by change of one's action. Repentance also includes Godly sorrow. There's a sorrow that leads to death, that's worldly sorrow while there's a Godly sorrow that brings true change. Sorrow by itself isn't bad but it should have godly results.
One should sincerely acknowledge that they have sinned and are in need of change. Sin is dependence on self and not God. Repentance is acknowledging that God is right and you wrong. You change your ways by turning entirely unto God.
It's so powerful when entire families, nations and individuals realize their mistakes and turn to God. Actions are so powerful, they stop the reign of sin and death in it's tracks, even curses too!
