The sword of the Spirit which is the Word

Ephesians 6:17b and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Roman soldiers used their swords to attack and wound the enemy. Other weapons were to defend him from attack. This is one of those weapons which was used to attack. 

The Word on our lips is deadly to the enemy. The words in your Bible won't save you if you cannot verbally utter out in the particular area you face. That's why you need to memorize scripture. 

Jesus did not respond to the enemy by affirming his position as the son of God but with the Word. Most children of God have statements like, how can a good Christian go through such snd such a situation? Why did God allow it to happen? Those statements are seemingly okay for baby Christians who keep narrating their Identity, good works or God's sovereignty in the matter. Now all those three are important to have and they have their place but they are the starting point, God expects you to use the very weapons He gave you to attack the enemy and get your victory. 

Many believers stand back and wait for God to do everything thing for them after all He is God and He is all powerful and can do everything. So they remain weak, poor, diseased, impoverished etc. They are like little birds which stay back in their nests waiting for mummy to bring them meals and they simply open their mouths to eat whatever mummy brings them. Now when an enemy whatsoever comes to attack them they are weak and can't fight back. Mummy does all the fighting. They do all the looking and observing. Instead of waiting on God to fight your enemies, God is waiting on you to pick up the very Word He gave you to fight. Instead of waiting on God to move mountains, use His Word to do that. Instead of waiting on God to remove the sickness, apply the Word to where the pain is. Exercise your faith by the Word of God. 

For that reason you need to fall in love with the Word more than soccer, movies, social media etc and anything which takes much if your time. Let it be your daily meal and utterance. Mark the word, utterance. Don't just keep quiet, speak the now Word which comes into your heart at the time of trouble. The now Word which comes in your heart is what is called the Rhema word. It's the Word for the moment inspired by the Spirit of God. The Logos is what is written, it's the scripture. Remember this, the Holy spirit won't bring to your remembrance any scriptures which you haven't read before. You need the Logos (scripture) stored in your heart, in order to acquire the Rhema (inspired or now Word) of the moment. 

Too much of Bible reading won't hurt or listening to spirit inspired teachings from Bible believing, tongue speaking, demon chasing and on fire preachers. Listening to sermons which seem to be by men of God but are full of affairs of this world won't help. I call those dead sermons which can't wound the enemy. There are some of those sermons which some Christians praise and they are like, "the man preached well today," and yet he didn't preach any revelation but affairs of men, and most especially current affairs. They simply gave a good talk to appease the flesh of men. They didn't equip or inspire believers to go all out into the World to share the good news to others. 

Go for the Word child of God, not mere words.
