Confidence

2 Corinthians 9:10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for [your] food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

Isaiah 32:17-18 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

The verse above in Isaiah 32 tells of the righteous dwelling in sure places. This refers to confidence. Confidence is to put trust in something or someone. A confident believer is good to have around. In terms of finances, they are sure of God's provision at all times. Just like one sows seed into the ground and expects it to grow later, so are those who plant seeds of giving.

Funny enough, many who withhold more than they should live in fear that they won't have enough left after giving part of their money. But that's not the lot for the giver. He's certain God will supply regardless.

Abraham had a certain confident expectation that God would provide Himself a lamb when he went to offer his son Isaac. He had faith that God would do some kind of provision in one way or the other. Was he lying when he said that yet in fact he was going to offer Isaac instead? No he wasn't. He knew God's heart.

Moses too had confidence when he assured the Israelites of victory when it came to overcoming the Egyptians who were attacking them yet before ahead of them there was the Red Sea. Had God ever rescued them before in the same situation? No but He was sure of the one He served. It means that those who walk in obedience in areas such as giving aren't fully trusting God however much they try to justify it. And that's what sin is all about, simply not trusting in God and doing things one's own way!

In one of the planning meetings for one event, I think it was Global mandate held at streams of life Mengo every 9th October we had a deficit of around 5 million. I can't forget what Pr Ivy Kwezi said, "I am not scared at all but God will provide that amount and we shall even have balance." She added, "I believe He will because we have been in such situations before and He always came through." Now that's confidence. God always funds His work for where God guides, He provides.

Separate confidence/trust in man and confidence/trust in God. Trust in man attracts a curse. Trust in God attracts blessings. There are those who trust in God because daddy, mummy or auntie and uncle so and so will bail them out when in need. That's not entirely putting trust in God. Then there are those who have plan B and C when it comes to God's promises. And their plan B and C is so carnal and sometimes sinful. That's not pleasing to God at all.

However if you desire to walk in godly confidence at all times, be a regular consistent giver. Your level of confidence grows everytime you give. In the same vein, your level of mistrust grows everytime you don't give. All of a sudden you start justifying how you have needs and end up not giving. When such persists the devil will plant into you all negative thoughts about pastors, the church and you may even start doubting your salvation. If it persists you may even abandon the faith and become a radical atheist. And how did you end up there, it's because you started being unfaithful in your giving.

How then can you know that you will never reach a state like that of abandoning the things of God? When you obey in the little things. These build momentum to the believe for bigger things.
