Who's the boss?

Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

This is an age old question. The answer you have depends on what you have been feeding on, who has been feeding you or modeling the life of God before you.

It is a simple as saying, I am for God and nothing else matters, or I am for money and nothing else matters. If the first is your answer, does that mean that money is not necessary? It is necessary but it's not the one factor that causes you to seek God. Such people who regard God as very important and money as something necessary for living easily give it away to advance the kingdom of God, they are not happy because have it or sad because they are not rather they have learned to be content in every situation, such people are so hungry and desirous for God in that they seek opportunities to make more of it so that they can be a blessing to others. They are so heavenly minded that they use wealth and money for earthly good instead of the money using them.

Those who hold the second view literally worship money. Touch their money and you will see their true colours. I have encountered people like that and basically they regard neither God nor man but money. They are so rough and terrible beings to have around. All their conversations, reasonings are on money and how to get more of it. They can actually kill or die for it. They can go so extreme to have it at all costs. That's serving money or wealth. Such a ones are so earthly minded and of no heavenly use in that money controls all they do. I have seen folks run out of prayer meetings to go crack a deal. Aren't such people bewitched? Do they know that God is moving? Can't the deal wait? Is it the deal which will get you out of total lack for the rest of your life? If no, stay to the end of the prayer meeting.

I have heard girls say I rather endure problems, cry in a Mercedes, own a splush home of a rich man than enjoy the love of a poor man! Do you know that such girls can settle to be wife number 10 with a rich man than enjoying the privilege of being the only wife to a brother who is starting from scratch to build wealth? That's compromise of the highest order. Don't even tell me he will get saved later, you can't afford to go with an unsaved man because of his money, what are you thinking? What's wrong with you? Likewise how can you leave a humble sister with a humble background, without a job currently with whom you can build wealth and go with an unsaved sugar mummy? I am not saying those who are saved, rich and single aren't humble but there's a point am trying to make.

In all learn to be content.
