Ruler of many things

Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

The thought of ruling with Christ forever captivates every believer. Just as there are ranks now, even then there will be ranks. All of us have eternal life, a gift and a reward for salvation but the other rewards for serving God will not be the same for each of us. Your level of rewards then is hinged on your present faithfulness.

I now pity those who want to make last minute confessions of salvation on their death beds! Five minutes into eternity, they will wish that they got saved early in their early years and worked for God. Bishop Gerald Mwebe always says some people will thank us (pastors) in heaven for having pushed them to serve God while on earth. They will forever be grateful for having obeyed to serve God because of the rewards they will receive then.

Your faithfulness in handling kingdom responsibilities now will determine how much responsibility and charge you will be given in the coming kingdom. This should get us active in using our gifts and abilities. Believers should not be passive but active in God's work in the here and now because it will matter a lot then.

Some people think waiting on the Lord's coming means doing completely nothing. A waiter in a restaurant is not on their business. Their business is the person they served, waiting on their next request, attending to their needs, anticipating what they would require and meeting it. Waiting for the Lord's return is the similar to it. It's being on the watch, serving the master, attending to His demands. It's not watching while others are doing the work and simply being a consumer of their service. We have many of such Christians. In fact entire denominations have resigned service to God to a chosen few who go to study theology. They even call them special names and dress up with special clothes etc. Such consumer kind of Christianity is not what is seen in the early church. Such acts reflect a church which became so carnal and fallen.

Every Christian is saved and called into the ministry. Everyone should be actively doing something to advance the cause of the gospel. Our mindset and how we do things should change from what statistics say. Why should 80% of church work be done by 20% committed church members of any local church?

God knows our frame. He knows that some want to take advantage of others by receiving rewards for no work done. No wonder he said he who doesn't work should not eat. He therefore placed promotion in the reverse order, it comes through serving. The greatest of you shall be your servant. Also by seeking first His righteousness and all other things will be added. Since the Word is eternal, the same will be in heaven. It's the diligent, faithful and humble servants who will be heavily rewarded in heaven. The reward for hard work is more work. There's work in the New Earth my friend for the diligent ones.

Be active while waiting.
