The New Earth

Revelation 21:1-4 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth are passed away; and the sea is no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, [ [and be] their God: and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away.

Whatever we see today on earth is not the end of all that God has in stock for us. God promises us a new earth where we shall dwell with Him forever. Are you looking forward to that day? I am actually. Imagine the throne of God and His presence dwelling with us forever!

Man has attempted to make earth a beautiful space to live in but it falls short of what is to come. At the present we know that there is heaven where God, angels and the saints are dwelling currently in spirit form. When this age is done, there won't be a heaven and earth in separation from each other, there will only be the New Earth. In this New Earth, which one can technically call Heaven, because anywhere God dwells is heaven, we shall be reunited with our physical bodies which will be called resurrected bodies, similar to the one that Jesus had after His resurrection which enabled Him to eat and drink. Then shall we have the marriage supper of the Lamb. 

These truths help us know what is coming ahead in the future so we don't despair when we go through trials for our faith. This shouldn't mean that we should sit still and let the devil run his course in our lives through sickness, disease etc. after all we are going to experience goodness after we die. No way! We can usher in the presence of God whenever we believe and pray to cast out demons, make the lame to walk and open blind eyes! God through His word gave us that mandate until He returns and we shouldn't stop doing it. 

I have heard some people praying for the sick in that way. By merely preparing them to die, they simply tell them, don't worry, in a few days the pain will be over because after your spirit leaves your body, you will go to heaven and you won't have any more pain. Instead of casting out the spirit that led to the disease, someone just prepares them to die! Believing only in the good future in the new heaven and new earth causes passivity in the church, with people comforting themselves that, "after all in the new life staff will all be good, let's endure the current situation!" That's being ignorant of what God's will is. God desires us to walk in the perfect health, prosperity, abundance which He provided for through the death burial and resurrection. This makes me think that some people would still be alive if they knew about having power to cast out demons and to heal the sick. 

Don't be passive child of God, occupy till He comes!
