Partial disobedience equals disobedience

1 Samuel 15:18-22 And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed. Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD? And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD [as great] delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey [is] better than sacrifice, [and] to hearken than the fat of rams.

When Saul was commanded to destroy the Amalekites completely,  he instead destroyed all but left the king alive and the best of the sheep.  He obeyed partially, and this was equal to disobedience. Disobeying in one area and hoping to make amends in another area is all disobedience. There's a reason God wants you to obey fully because he sees the bigger picture and scheme of things. As for you, you may only see in part.

Israel too had to destroy all the enemies otherwise they would became a thorn to them many years later. One act of partial obedience can create several problems for you later on.

There are believers who are fond of not obeying the call of God and instead promise themselves that they will perhaps give money to help others preach. To cover the guilt trip they seem to be having,  they think money will buy God and have Him change His mind. It cannot work that way.

Saul and the people sacrificing instead of obeying was not pleasant to God. Obey fully every instruction in God's word.

Numbers 33:54-55 And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: [and] to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's [inheritance] shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit. But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them [shall be] pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
