Pursue God
(Exo 33:18) And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
Have you ever wondered why you sometimes feel that God is not with you? Scripturally, you may be aware He is with you, and yet you do not feel His presence? I have discovered that God hides from us so that we can pursue Him.
We have tasted His glory in various meetings and things we do, but there is a feeling that tells you there is more than you are yet to see. The more you are yet to see draws you again to search Him deeper, and when you feel like this is it, then you discover it is not it, and then you search more and more.
It is like climbing a ladder that has intermediate landings. The landings are not the destination but a temporary stopover. We encounter landings in our spiritual journeys. You see a little success here and there. God uses you, and you see results here and there, and then you discover that there are other things you are yet to see or experience. That alone arouses more hunger for Him. You tend to pray, read the Word or even fast as if you have never done so before.
The people who do not have such hungers have parked in traditionalism and dogma. The same way their fathers did Christianity is the way they will do Christianity. But I am not speaking of those, am appealing to some who are like Moses, who asked God to show him His glory. I thought he had seen the burning bush, the miracles and plagues in Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea, the cloud by day and fire by night. What more did He want? He did not settle for all those; He needed God Himself! He was the giver of the law and the commandments but He needed Him. If he settled with formulae and methods, then he did not need Him. But Moses gives us a clear picture that although we have come to know God's standards and principles, they themselves are not life-giving except God Himself! Christians sometimes want a 5 or 10-step formula to success. However much you get them, they won't bring the satisfaction you need; only God and a relationship with Jesus will.
As you seek for God to use you in a greater measure, in a way you are saying I need you, Lord, only you, and nothing else matters. Don't stop seeking and searching out for more of God; pursue Him more.
