The ordinance of first fruits

Nehemiah 10:35-37 And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all trees, year by year, unto the house of the LORD: Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as [it is] written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, unto the priests that minister in the house of our God: And [that] we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage.

First fruits in the Hebrew is called "Bikkurim" and that literally means "the promise to come". It refers to the very first of the ripened crops or increase. The first portion is not just part of the harvest; it is the portion that sanctifies the rest. It sets a holy foundation for what is to come ahead for the rest of the day, week, month etc.

Firstfruits is an ordinance that God instituted in the Bible that brings order in the way things are done in relation to giving. If there's no order to how things are done, chaos and confusion is the result.

Men have their own ordinances but God's ordinances are far greater than man's.  And man actually borrows a leaf from God's ordinances but is sometimes too proud to admit so.

An ordinance of God is not a suggestion or something to be debated upon, it's to be obeyed trusting the giver of it. Let's abide by the first fruit principle and walk in obedience to it and you will see blessings in your life and home.
