Arise and be a man

1 Corinthians 13:11 (NKJV) “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

This scripture reminds us that manhood is defined by maturity. To arise as a man is to make the conscious decision to abandon childish ways and embrace responsibility, discipline, and spiritual growth. Paul is not talking about age — he is talking about growth. Becoming a man, in biblical terms, means making a deliberate decision to leave behind childish patterns.

Understanding the Call to “Arise”
The word arise implies movement. It suggests that something has been dormant, delayed, or neglected. In Scripture, God often calls His people to arise when He is inviting them into responsibility and action.

True manhood in Scripture is closely tied to responsibility. God’s design for men includes leadership that is rooted in humility, obedience, and service. This leadership begins inwardly, in character, before it is ever expressed outwardly.

After reading all this, Maturity begins when a man owns his walk with God. Spiritual growth cannot be delegated or inherited; it is a personal responsibility. A man must move beyond depending solely on sermons, leaders, or circumstances and take deliberate ownership of his relationship with God. This means cultivating a consistent prayer life, engaging with Scripture personally, and responding in obedience to God’s voice.

When a man accepts responsibility for his spiritual life, he steps out of childish dependence and into true maturity, positioning himself to lead with clarity, integrity, and purpose.
