I AM
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
God first called Himself as I AM to Moses from which the name Yahweh or Jehovah was derived by scholars. Yahweh too was derived from a Hebrew four letter word YHWH or YHVH. Yahweh unlike other names like EL, Elohim, Almighty etc which are kind of title like, this is a personal name of God. For example the president of any nation has a personal name. The title president is not their personal name but you can refer to them as such anyway.
Yahweh, a personal name of God means that God is self existent, eternal and creator. He was never created. He is not dependent on anything to exist. But all things depend on Him to exist.
Why is it important to know about a God who is self existent? It helps those who believe in Him to have a firm reliance on Him. If I am reliant on God, I can depend on Him fully for He can never be corrupted by anything. He doesn't eat bribes. He doesn't exist to be worshipped or served because if He did then He would cease to be God if He didn't receive them. God can be fully trusted.
Some Christians have tailored their lives around others entirely. If those they have put their entire faith in happen to stumble and leave the faith, they too give up on God. Some say, if so and so can do such a thing, how about me? It's like they put their faith on a weighing scale based on what others are doing, however much they are doing exploits for God! I didn't want to give examples but let me do so to bring the point home. We have scenarios where pastors depend on their congregations for survival and esteem especially when it is big. It's like they get something to brag about among other pastors since its bigger than their fellow pastor's congregations. On the other hand there are believers who depend entirely on their pastors for their standing strong in Christianity, some even get material benefits from being close to them. The day the other party let's the other party down, you will see someone stumble. If it so happens that the former loses the congregation or the support they receive, they will feel as if they are no longer servants of God. On the other hand if a pastor is caught in a scandal, the Christians whose faith was tailored around them fall from their faith, distrust the entire church thing and off they go back to the world.
You need to reach a level where nothing can separate you from the relationship you have in God. The community you serve with and the leaders who lead you will have their own share of failures, so you depending on them to stand or nor to stand is a risky path you are taking. Become God reliant from today because ultimately you will stand before God alone to give account for your life.
Hallelujah, the point Reached point
