Repentance
Matthew 3:7-8 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
Repentance is simply a change of heart and mind which leads to a corresponding change of actions. It is making a total turn around in what we do starting with what we think and a heart which is broken and contrite. Bible says a broken and contrite heart I will not despise.
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for putting up a show on the outside yet they never really meant it. The actions were simply religious to get the praise of men that's all. There also those who have what I call a religiously correct speech either in praise of God, worship and practices and yet their hearts are far from Him. It's what's called lip service. There's a way you can tell that someone is truly repentant, you can notice their body language and attitude. Attitude is simply the mental disposition or how someone thinks about something.
Since we cannot know what's in your heart, only God sees the heart, we can have clues of what's going in there by your words and actions. Man sees on the outside. Failure to reconcile your words by your actions may cause man on the outside to doubt you.
You better show the actions that meet your repentance. Otherwise it's lip service. There are those who argue that we cannot know who is saved and who is not because we cannot take the place of a judge. How can't we not know when the Bible has given us insights in the same? It tells us you shall know them by their fruits. Fruit grows on a branch but the real work of supplying the nourishment is done via the stem. Bible says you cannot light a candle and put it under a table. Some people's Christianity is only in their hearts, arguing that it's personal, they also say that they don't need to go on telling everyone that they are Christians. That is contrary to what the Word says. The world has to know you're born again by your changes actions and you preaching to them. If that is not so, we doubt your Christianity. Andrew Wommack says if there was an arrest for those who are truly practicing Christianity, very few would be found guilty. Simply because there won't be enough evidence to convict them. Most are so conformed to the standards of this world in that you cannot easily tell whether they are really saved or not. They are simply flowing along with the patterns of this world, with what is nice and easy. Jesus said the way to destruction is wide and easy, many are following it. Beware that you are not in that way!
You may be a Christian true but you dress like one of the prostitutes, where do you belong? You smell like alcoholics, drunkards, smokers, it's hard to tell where you belong. Choose today to go out fully for God, not by might, not by power but by His Spirit.
