Authority figures in our lives

Genesis 9:24-27 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed [be] Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. And he said, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

God has divinely placed certain people over our lives whose words of blessings or curses can either make you a success or a failure.

One such person is your biological father. A curse from a father to a child has tremendous effect in the destiny of the child. Noah pronounced a curse on his grand son Canaan because his son Ham saw his nakedness after he had fallen drunk. In Israel even your grand son is your son according to the genealogies in the Bible for example the Bible says Jesus was the son of David as well as a son of Abraham. Isaac before his death pronounced a blessing on Jacob as well as Esau and that's how they turned out to be. Jacob too prophesied how each of his twelve sons would turn out to be in life and that was so. Father's never curse your children with words like, "you will never make it in life, you will be like your grandfather who did so and so (yet what they did was bad) etc.

A pastor too has a lot of authority over the people he leads. Believe the words they pronounce over you. I have come to experience most of the prophetic blessings I have received over the years from those that have the spiritual leadership over me. If you annoy the man of God and he places a curse on you, your future will not be bright.

Husbands over their wives. We see jacob cursing whoever will be found in possession of Laban's goods and gods when he was fleeing from Laban. It was discovered that his wife Rachel was the one who had them. After the delivery of her next child she died. The husband is head over the wife, as the Bible says, so wives never take for granted their words.

Teachers also have instructional authority over the students they teach. Many teachers curse the students with words like dull, weak, stupid and the worst declarations like you will never understand this subject etc. Such words cripple the child and never amount to anything. It takes the power of God to break such pronouncements and do the opposite of what was said over you.

Employers too curse. Now a curse doesn't mean that one has to be a witch, a simple word like, "you cannot do such work, your potential is limited, you take long to understand," push back the person from even trying out their best in a new position.

We are a product of the words we have received and believed by authority figures in our lives in one way or another. A blessing or curse from some nobody's in your life does not carry weight as that from the somebody's in your life. Beware not to hurt those key people especially those who have had a huge hand in your upbringing or make amends with them to put your life in order again.
