Heads not tails
Deuteronomy 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do [them]:
God commands a blessing of being the heads and not the tails. The head as the name sounds represents someone who is a leader, one with vision, direction, influence, someone in charge, who speaks out, sensitive to the voice of God and a decision maker.
A tail on the other hand is the very opposite of the head. It describes a person being lead, without vision, direction, influence, someone not in charge, someone who doesn't speak out, awaiting on other people's opinions on a matter and one who is not the one who makes decisions concerning even those they have to make themselves. Such people give up on life and allow circumstances take the lead of their lives instead of them taking the lead. They become victims and not victors over the issues happening in their personal lives.
It is a great blessing to be the head. To use the authority that Christ has granted you to lead not only in the areas of your gifts, talents and abilities God gave you but also in the day to day affairs in your life.
There are people who are always undecided on what to do. Such have statements like, "we shall see how tomorrow goes and we shall make a decision to do this or that." I am a pastor and I normally hear such statements, "If the weather is good, we shall come to church." Instead of deciding what to do and do it no matter what, people are busy waiting on circumstances being favourable to do or decide on something. That works well in some situations but most times we can't do ministry with such attitudes. We can't wait for what others think so that we come up with our opinions about a matter. This hindered me a lot in the beginning stages of my adulthood. I had to have my parents opinion all the time before attempting anything. The only time I had to make a decision which was contrary to theirs was when I decided to marry at a time when COVID 19 had just hit. I either had to postpone to please them or side with my beloved and we go ahead with the ceremony. For the first time I took the bull by the horns and decided otherwise and this helped me leave and cleave to my wife however much I loved them. Now am not telling you to assert your decisiveness by going against authority figures with all the violence to prove a point. No you can gently affirm your position without being proud and offensive. The other decision I have made which helped me a lot was to leave home and start renting. That didn't go well with my parents too but I had to take it. I was done with school and I had to prepare myself for marriage. How best could I understand the weight of such responsibility of taking care of someone's daughter if I was still in my parents home! Still that didn't go well with them but I knew I was doing the right thing. I heard this from some man of God one time who narrated how him and a group of friends went all out to start a church without saying goodbye to their mother church. He said, "we went started the church and apologized later." I borrowed such a mind. If I know that am not breaking any law, biblical or human, and am confident it's the time God has told me to do, I seek all the advice I can, start out in faith, and whoever doesn't understand my moves will get me later. Reconciliation will always happen. Tell you what later on when COVID 19 persisted (we all thought it was to go for only a few weeks), daddy gave me a call and said I was right on the decision I made to marry. That is one of the best phone calls I have ever got in my life. And about renting and starting out on my own, I don't know how soon I would have acquired some of the house hold items we have now in our home if I didn't move out then. Some youths think they should first save all they can, buy land, build a house, and then move out of their fathers houses and then think of marriage. What a dream! We attain those as we go.
If the Bible is truly God's Word, then it has already given you the final say about everything, so no man should twist you with carefully devised philosophies about anything. Simply stay rooted and move ahead with confidence.
