The tongue

James 3:5-6 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

We have a small member of our bodies called the tongue which has ability to define the course of our lives and that is the tongue. With it one can speak himself or others happy, sad or glad. With it one can make or break relationships. With it one can be judged by what they think or feel.

Wherever the mind goes, and so is the tongue and so are the actions. If we speak and don't act in direction of it then we are hypocrites and liars. A hypocrite is one who is likened to an actor on stage. They can put a clone on their faces to look like a beast and yet they aren't beasts. It's simply acted out.

Why don't we have our prayers answered? It is because our words don't match our actions many at times. You cannot pray for provision and don't act in faith to look for work. You cannot pray to be a renown writer, worshipper, preacher and yet you turn down opportunities to write, lead worship or preach. You rather pray that way and believe God by making baby steps in the direction of your prayers otherwise you're simply putting up a nice joke before the Lord and the rest of us.

It takes God and the power of the Holy Spirit to be a man or woman of your Word. Otherwise there's a high chance of one conforming to the standards of this world. In this world we live in we see a pattern where people make all sorts of promises and fulfil none at all and yet feel no inch of guilt about it.

A righteous man swears to his word and changes not. Simply commit yourself to something and live up to it. Fight the good fight to live up to your Word. Let your Yes be Yes and your No  be No. Let your words be few otherwise you risk lying or saying what's unnecessary to others.
