Unscriptural covenants

Exodus 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

From the scripture above, the children of isreal were commanded not to enter into covenants with the nations they were to find in the promised land they were about to enter in. According to the scripture above, there covenants are with man and also with God or gods.

Covenants have a binding effect on those who are engaged in them. We have heard many enter into covenants with a promise of riches and other things from yet it results in disaster. They want good at the end of the day but I don't think they are prepared to face the consequences. The devil doesn't give anything for free. Accompanied with what he gives are endless troubles and sorrow. It's selfish for one to enter into such covenants with a care of how it will affect the people they are connected to.

There is a popular story in Uganda of a man who sacrificed his son for riches. Now the ghost of the child came haunting the rich man to wake up every early morning to go work and stay up late after all he intended to get rich. Due to inadequate sleep for a long time, the man ran mad and died. Now it's on such mere premises of getting rich, a child, a promotion, a spouse that lead men to desperately do such things. Yet if believed God, remained patient and diligently work with their own hands, they would make it. Other groups that promise riches include the illuminati, etc.

Entering into such covenants with such groups affects you and the children after you in strange ways. There are some things which science cannot explain away. It can only be a curse manifesting in one way or another. Some bear children who are not mentally okay, crippled or with stunted growth. This may or may not be the fault of the parents but a covenant might exists in their lineage by some ancestor. Others may have difficulty bearing children. When such happens, there is a likelihood that something is not right, the foundations are out of course.

The union of a man and a woman is a scriptural covenant we should pursue which ushers blessings. A man gains favour for seeing a good wife. How we ought to have it is very important. It's not okay for a believer to be in union with a nonbeliever. You risk having curses in your marriage. The bible says how can darkness mix with light? The two are incompatible. You either lay a solid foundation with God at the centre or you try to do it on your own and face great difficulty.
