A bare minimum

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now with this, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

When one is to take a journey of a thousand miles, it only takes a step to start that journey. When one is to take a step into radical generosity, they need to start with giving a tithe. 

What is then radical generosity? Simply giving over and beyond 10 percent. But it's important to know why people don't even tithe in the first place. First of all they don't believe right. They attribute it to the law and that we who are in the grace don't need to give. Such a mind robs men of even giving a tenth to even giving nothing at all! After all they advocate that we are in grace! God's standards have never been lowered just because we are in grace! His view on adultery, stealing, covetousness is still the same even when we are not under law. God hates sin and that's His position ever since and that's His position eternally. 

In the same way he is not pleased when people come to His house empty handed that is why He gives them a bare minimum of a tithe for them to start with. If 10 percent is hard for you, for your information some give away 90 percent of their income and are still alive. 

Giving won't kill you, rather it will make you blessed beyond your imagination so that you give more. If you don't give at all it's your disadvantage and not God's. You rob yourself of the blessings only reserved for givers.
