Budget
Budgeting
Proverbs 27:23-24 Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds; for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.
One of the ways one can avoid going into unnecessary debts is through budgeting. Nations have budgets which are carefully thought-out. Infact at the beginning of a financial year, the budget for the next financial year starts to be made.
At an individual or family level, do you know how much you need to spend on in a month? And how will you know unless you write all the expenses you anticipate to make? Except for emergencies, you should know how much you need for food, transport, airtime, data etc. If you can discipline yourself not to go above budget, you can actually save money and have some to give.
A budget is made based on money you get on a monthly basis or anticipate to get. It doesn't matter whether you are a business person or one who is employed with a fixed income, have a budget.
Like I wrote yesterday, the reason why people don't know where their money goes after years of toil is because they don't have a budget. That's why when they get a wind fall or a lot money they didn't expect they blow it. Money is not safe in their custody.
Had they had a budget in the first place for the month, the moment they get a windfall, they would maybe tithe, save, give some and wait to spend it unless they create a new budget for it, otherwise it will be blown away somewhere in a restaurant, or off they go to buy that shoe they loved all this while but didn't have.
Andrew Wommack said if you live on less than you make on a daily and monthly basis, in the long run you will be millionaire or billionaire for that matter. In the long run may be 30 or 50 years to come. If you can't wait that time, you may fall for a get rich quick scheme which will consume your money. When you ask someone whether they have a plan to get rich or for their finances. They will not give you any because they think budgeting is hard work and it will hinder their faith. I don't think it will hinder your faith but it will enable you know how much you want God to supply.
You find a Christian going for betting, or they expect someone to give them miracle money, some of they are probably those who who don't budget and want riches now now. Such may actually bet and win or get miracle money, but I don't think that will keep them for the next 50 years unless they handle it wisely. And do they always bet and win? Or do they always get miracle money? I don't think so.
Just like you plan your journeys before you embark on them, by visualising the routes you will take, how much you need etc, similarly make a plan for your money. Know where it should go before you get it otherwise it will go anywhere.
