New Jerusalem
Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 18-21 And the building of the wall of it was [of] jasper: and the city [was] pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city [were] garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation [was] jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates [were] twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city [was] pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
Everyone loves a beautiful home to dwell in. And you notice people's tastes in the kind of homes they build. They plan to put their best in it and spend all their savings for it.
God too has an eternal dwelling prepared for us and Himself. The foundation of that city called the New Jerusalem are beyond what we have ever seen here on earth, made with all kinds of precious stones. The streets are pure gold. The gates too, twelve in number are made of pearls.
Who wouldn't desire to be in such a city unless they don't pause to think about eternity? DL Moody once said if a worldly person was left alone to think about eternity for only five minutes, they would get saved. But the irony is that they are too busy to do so. We need to reach them quick with the gospel.
