Things above

Colossians 3:1-2 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians was a book written to believers and therefore Bible scholars argue that the word "if" in our theme scripture should have been written as "since". Paul already knew that they were already believers and didn't doubt any bit whether they were saved or not. The word if sounds conditional yet it should have been written in an affirmative way. 

It's certainly true that we have been risen with Christ, we ought to set our affections on things above and also set our eyes on heavenly things. I don't think an ambassador can be of any impact in a nation they have been sent to if they think as the locals. He has to think differently so that he can be of help to the people he's been sent to. We are ambassadors of Christ, we cannot afford to think like the world. The only way we can be of impact is when we don't think, reason or act like the world. 

Lions don't apologize for being the kings of the jungle. Even when there are animals bigger than it, they have their minds set on that fact that to they are greater. Certain mindsets should be set in us like concrete. When concrete is fresh, it's mouldable into any shape but once it's placed in it's final position and it sets or hardens, you need to work extra hard to break it. Our minds are like that, if you don't set them on heavenly things, you will be easily taken up by other opinions of men which will cause doubt and unbelief. But once they are set, it is hard to undo those thought patterns unless when you hear something to the contrary for a long time. 

What are your thought patterns? Are they on failure, disease, sickness, lack etc, which are earthly. Change them to heavenly ones: success, divine health, healing and abundance etc. You need to be shocked if you start to even think otherwise because you will sound as local worldly men whom you have been sent to rescue. For you to help men, you need to break their wrong mindsets first and establish new ones in them but that starts with you.
