What are you leaving behind?

Proverbs 13:22 A good [man] leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner [is] laid up for the just.

A good man leaves and inheritance for his children's children. That scripture tells us that as good parents, we need to leave possessions in the hands of our grand children. That's how Jews do it to date. When a parent is to leave property before he dies, instead of giving it to his own children, he instead gives it to the grand children. Why do they do it that way? Life was lived in community and land was difficult to obtain. I also suppose that they knew this adult is already wealthy because their grand father left them property and second because they wouldn't want to cripple this adult child from working for themselves and to attain wealth by themselves neither.

Inheritance can either become a blessing or a curse but for most a curse if they don't know wise handling of it. If a child knows that daddy will leave me with his estate, will he fidgit to read hard, work hard or even relate with others well? Most probably not since all they have at heart is "when is daddy leaving this world so that I can take over?" What does it profit for one to gain the whole world and lose their souls? If you don't leave behind saved, God loving children, trained well with soft skills, good communication, handling people well, then you haven't left your inheritance in good hands.

The rich young ruler was told by the Lord to sell his property and give it to the poor. I thought Jesus would say give it to your relatives, brothers and sisters, not at all. Was it an accidental for Jesus to say this? No. It gives us a clue on how to pass on our wealth.

I commend our parents for they believed that once one is educated according to the standards of the world, they will have what it takes to survive. That's commendable but educating the mind of mind without leaving godly character in them helps little. Leave them with enough to take them through school. Secondly leave them with some property to enable them have a good start out in life and the rest donate it to the church to advance the cause of the gospel. The poor need the gospel and the church, the pillar of truth is there for that cause.

I have heard countless stories of people donating land to the church, and the lives being impacted by the church wouldn't have been impacted if that act of generosity was not done. The church I got saved from received it's land by the generosity of a former church member. We have many well to do individuals with much property but the churches they are submitting to are struggling yet if they act generously, the church struggles would cease and more people would be blessed. Randy Alcorn says five minutes after your death, you will realize that you should have done more for your church and the kingdom through your generosity. All the piling up and amassing things for yourself would mean nothing except that which you gave to the cause of the gospel.

Child of God I believe God is going to bless you abundantly, but plan to leave a huge chunk of your resources to the church so that the gospel is spread further.
