Behold the huge harvest

Matthew 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Any good farmer knows where good land is located for his crops. Any good shepherd too knows where good and plenty of pastures are for his sheep. Likewise, any good soul winner knows where harvest fields are and desires to go for them.

Don't you sometimes sit down and wonder whether all the huge crowds which gather around politicians in campaigns are saved or not? Musicians too gather large crowds of people. Are they all really saved? There are many school going children, many people flock the markets on market days, sports events gather many people, are they all saved? When one goes to the taxi and bus parks, in the peak hours you see many fighting to enter the few taxis available. Are all those saved? The universities gather thousands and thousands of students. Have all of them been reached out to? I thank God that whenever we go to some hostels around campus, the testimony we hear every now and then is that we are not the first ones to have come to such hostels to share the good news. But there are many dispersed in rentals, others commute from home. Sampling a few hostels and we boast that most students have heard the gospel is not a good boasting at all. 

The church has made progress but compared to the many unreached groups, we still have a lot to do. Sometimes mega churches have many people in one sitting. But how many mega churches are there? They are not many. There is still a need for more churches! We thank God for the popular preachers who organise big meetings around town, but there are many who will never get to hear about those meetings. 

I grew up going to church every Sunday. But there are many who stay behind at home, some work, others go bars, go for family gatherings, old boys' and girls' meetings, others go for outings etc. I was amazed one day to see a number of youths on a huge truck dressed weirdly heading to a beach party on a Sunday morning! If you are a regular church goer, you will be shocked by the many youths who are in shopping malls, cinema halls, betting halls on a Sunday morning! You cannot believe that not everyone values God like we do! Someone needs to reach out to them if they behold the huge harvest.

Behold the harvest, and you will not stop preaching.
