Abundance
1 Kings 17:8-15 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which [belongeth] to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman [was] there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch [it], he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, [As] the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I [am] gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go [and] do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring [it] unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day [that] the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat [many] days.
I don't have space to talk about the rest but let me emphasise the giving part. But I also have funny stories how I was cheated and manipulated by some people and they took away my money. From a person we partnered with to start a business which never materialised, to some others who lured us into a ponzi scheme, to a person we employed who ran away with our money after paying her without even saying goodbye, to some tricksters who tricked me and stole my laptop at night etc. You should have experience too about such experiences. We also hear on a public scale of people commiting fraud in places of leadership. The habit grows from stealing small amounts to stealing big amounts when they sit in high offices.
No believer who genuinely has the DNA of God in them will feel at ease doing things the world's way inorder to get wealthy. But at the same time we haven't been empowered enough with the principles which are tested for all time but go with shortcuts like the world does after all they are the common ones known to them.
God's way is the best way. It will bring peace, joy. God Himself will promote you. He will prosper you. God is not against you having riches, driving a good car(s), having a good house(s), but He is against those things having you.
What you have to know that just like the world has an economic system, God's economy exists also. The way to enter the world's economic system is by buying and selling. But God's economic system is by giving and receiving. To be clear, giving especially to the work of God is not about meeting the needs of the ministry but its about meeting our needs. That statement is profound. You may think you are giving to solve the problem the church has to get ABC but God is using that giving opportunity to meet your future needs. There are many examples in the Bible to demonstrate that principle. The widow woman who gave to Elijah her last meal did not know that she was securing her future with an abundance that would take her for the next 3.5 years.
God's way to abundance is by trusting Him through your giving. Trust him with your resources and you will secure an abundant future harvest.
