Your ordinary unless you're anointed

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Recently I sat in a train and next to me was a group of about three ladies that were seated next to me. All I heard from them was outings, drinking, partying, men and how to get money from this man or that etc. I thought to myself which world am I in? I really felt strange and as though I was being corrupted while I was there, swallowed up in the book I was reading! Could i even concentrate anymore? I tried but in vain. Why was it strange to me? Because all I know on my agenda is prayer meetings, fellowships, evangelism etc. That's my life. I am God minded, they are self minded. But what causes such a difference was the anointing.

I am sure if I had opened my mouth to talk to them about how weird their lifestyle is, they would call me mad. They would think am being too holy and righteous. By the way I overheard them say that they have some kind of religion they belong to. Why hasn't the religion been if help? The answer is in the anointing.

You see when we get saved an anointing comes and abides in us, the anointing of the Holy Spirit which influences each and everything we do. John calls it an unction. Do not be surprised when you meet some who say they are Christians having a lifestyle like the girls I talked of. They are dominated by the flesh and the cravings thereof. Allowing the anointing in you dominate you makes you spiritually minded and you act spiritual.

Without the anointing,  we are like the rest of the world, able to do what they do, think as they do and behave exactly the same way. But thank God we are not of the world although we are in it. We are peculiar, separated, sanctified, unique.

Sometimes I complain about the many programmes that my church has but I see they are all there for my good to anoint me further to continue doing the work of the ministry.  But the day I stop attending anointed programmes and company with myself or those who are fleshly minded, that's the day I will do the things the world does and become like the girls I talked of.

The Christian life is not lived by our own strength but by the strength we get from the anointing in us. Man left to himself is helpless. He will be dominated by what he can see, smell, feel or touch. But man in the hands of God is anointed for good works. Which side would you choose? Which life would you want to live? I choose to live an anointed life, and being profitable to the world around me, hallelujah!
