The right order
1 Samuel 1:24-28 And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child [was] young. And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. And she said, Oh my lord, [as] thy soul liveth, my lord, I [am] the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
We see in the scriptures that Hannah who was formerly barren, gave her firstborn son, Samuel to the service of God and God was faithful to add her more children. But there's a contrast we see among believers nowadays.
Our order of importance matters to God. It determines where someone's heart it. I know there are seasons of life when someone's time is owned by other people because at the end of the day they give you something that will buy basic needs but the truth remains, the main work we have been called to do in this world is the work of God, other things are secondary.
We should not have the attitude of saying we shall do it "when we are free or when we retire," no. We should do it first and the rest shall follow. There's a place of doing things as unto the Lord where you do not compartmentalise your life and involve your faith in all things, but there is nothing that will compare to winning souls, praying for the sick, visiting the brethren, counselling, sharing God's word etc. These are so key. Our time should be planned around them. Everything should be in order because our God is a God of order.
Talking more about order and priority, when one gets some money after offering a service or working a job, what should a believer do first? Budget for all other needs and then give to God the balance? No. Instead they should have the ten percent or tithe deducted first, then the offering and then other budget for other things. Never be tempted to touch God's potion or be unfaithful to it.
Order your life a certain way with God's things at the forefront and things will fall in place for you easily. The first hours of your day, the first day of the week, your first paycheck of the year, your first increase, etc give them to the Lord and you will see great blessings.
