God is good II
Romans 5:1-2 NLT Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory.
Many times people are attracted to bad news nowonder they are allover the newspapers. You never hear them report about the slavations, healings, breakthroughs and triumphs but when there is a scandal, they want to blow it out of proportion.
Someone building a house maynot make news, but the death or divorce will make alarm everywhere. That is the devil at work. And usually Christians follow suit to be used by the enemy to bring havoc by spreading bad news everywhere. I cannot forget a pastor friend who went everywhere on social media testifying how God protected him from a snake bite. His point was if he was bitten and died, the devil would make a great deal of it, so he took it upon himself to give God praise by spreading the news everywhere how God saved Him.
We have a saying in luganda which is loosely translated as, "people love to hear what has gone bad in your life," "bagala okuwulira ebiyiise". But good is made to appear normal. In fact some even feel envious when you achieve some level of success. It is naivety to think everyone will be happy when you succeed. Sometimes they may smile on the outside but when they don't like the achievement you have had. Ask Joseph in the Bible. He had these big dreams but those of his own household were uneasy about it.
But let's dive in more on the good things. We have a good and loving father. We are brought in a special place of privilege with Him because of Jesus' death burial and resurrection.
Every day you should be happy because one who was once identified as a sinner like you and me is serving God and enjoying the privileges of being in close relationship with Him, surely all we can say is that "God is good, and all the time, God is good, and that is His nature." Such statements are part of our jargon as Christians and we tend to normalise them. The weight of their meaning gets lost in the process and we never get to meditate on them. We should never get used to such statements, and they should never lose meaning.
God is good, and at the same time He is powerful. If someone is powerful but not good, it does not sound nice and you cannot be attracted to them. But we are confident of God's power and His goodness.
May that reality be planted in your heart that God is good and He loves you.
