Peace from God

John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives."

The Peace we receive from God through the Holy Spirit is different from that which the world gives. True peace is not what you do on the outside or from the environment but it is from the inside.

The world will tell you to seek peace by getting yourself a massage, listen to soft music or go far away where you will be quiet and all alone. But you cannot have all these at all times. If you are a nursing mother or taking care of toddlers, expect noise and shouting, if you are in a workplace, there are times when you won't see things the same way with your colleagues, if you take a taxi, the conductor may speak unkind words to you, if you live in a rented place, the landlord can put you off, the list is endless.

But how can one have peace, an inner sense of rest and calm at such times and not through the impossible way of avoidance of conflict or troubling situations that the world suggests? It is by the Holy Spirit.

Only the peace of the Holy Spirit is the solution. The peace that made Jesus endure suffering without fighting back, sleep in the midst of a storm can only be supernaturally explained, even church history has some people who accepted to be martyred yet they were unmoved. They had a firm confidence in the God of their salvation which brought them rest. They believed the scriptures as truth, they sought joy not from what they saw but from above and in the hope of heaven. Liks some singer sang, "this world was not their own, to God they belonged and gave themselves to Him."

Which peace do you want to live by, the peace of God or the world. I choose to live by God's peace from the inside, hallelujah!
