The Jesus movement

Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

How did Jesus start a movement that is still expanding today? Did He use force, or the established religious system of the day? He did not use any of those but ordinary men and women to extend his mission.

Likewise, what can we learn from Jesus that we can use to expand His mission wherever we find ourselves? We need to do it the Jesus way. Jesus started a family of disciples whom he gave a mission. The mission was not to do charity or philanthropy but to spread the Gospel to the uttermost parts of the world.

Any family has things that they do together on a regular basis. Some of those are to eat, play, celebrate together. There's a way those things bind the family together. Jesus' family of disciples had similar rhythms. They ministered together, had fellowship together and prayed together. They did things in community and that was where discipleship and expanding of the mission was happening.

Resist the temptation to keep away from making and maintaining the family of disciples because it is the only way we can win more to the Lord.
