The power of discipleship

Philippians 2:19-22 But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

Paul testifies about his son Timothy in a powerful way which speaks much about discipleship in our theme scripture. Can your discipler talk about you like that? Are you likeminded with him in things pertaining ministry? Do you care for the flock of God like he does without being forced? Or you seek your own, things which are not Jesus Christ's.

Discipleship reaches its full completion when your discipler can see in you what he sees in himself. It is enough for you to be like your master. Do not try to be anything that your discipler isn't. If he is zealous for souls, be zealous for souls, if he loves people,  love people, if he is into crusades, Church planting, care for the same. On a flip side, if he is persecuted, you too will suffer similar persecutions if you follow in his footsteps.

Aspire to be like your discipler in all things that pertain to Christ.

Matthew 10:25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more [shall they call] them of his household?
