God’s Will II: Wait on the Lord
Act 16:7-9 "After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not. And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us."
It is until Paul got a vision in the night to go to Macedonia that he knew that God answered his prayer. A rare answer which was not expected at all. To give you context, Mysia where Paul wanted to go is in the East present day Turkey in Asia while Macedonia where the Lord wanted him to go is in the West, present day Greece in Europe totally opposite from where he expected but that what God's will for him. But the point is that Paul waited and God’s plan and will came through in a process of waiting.
Ever waited upon an opportunity that was within reach but you had to wait some more? Someone promises you money but all of a sudden they change their mind on the day he promised you. In such cases what do you do?Wait since the answer is not in your power to accomplish it. Some apply for a job, called for an interview, they pass it but in the end the job is not given to them. You have to encourage yourself and wait. Some have to wait on the promise made by their partners to marry them. If you are a lady, you just have to wait. I remember doing the same when a study opportunity came up. I told my fiancee that there was change of plans. She was not happy but she waited and we got married later eventually. I remember when I was told that am going out of the country by my former boss. I hurried to process my passport but the opportunity never materialised.
I remember when I was promised a building project not once by clients. The way you start calculating how you are going to use the profits from the project! I remember one in particular which caused me to process my driving permit since it was upcountry knowing full well that somehow I will be driving to the site using the client's son's car who happened to be my friend. The client never got back to me but they tell you, "we shall call you." I can list many stories where I had to wait. Am sure you also have your own share of them. Right now you look back at how God has supplied miraculously even after those many turndowns and you wonder how He did it. He is surely faithful.
Child of God, you don't have to be discouraged or break doors of your opportunity doesn't or through the window. Just wait on Him.
