God of covenants IV

Deuteronomy 5:3 The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

Covenant number five was the Mosaic covenant which is contained in the books of the old testament.

Moses wrote the first five books of it including Genesis. You may wonder how he did that. He received a revelation from God. Moses prayed in Exodus 33:13-14 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation [is] thy people. And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest. Grace reveals to you the heart of God and the way of God. That is why Paul prayed for the Ephesian church that God would give them revelation in the knowledge of Him. Secondly, you cannot separate grace from rest. Once you get God’s grace, you cannot fail to enter His rest.

In Exodus 33:19 God continues to promise, "And He said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy." Mercy and grace is the heart of God.

We ought to learn that although he received a covenant of law, he saw the grace of God and that is what sustained his relationship with God. Likewise always remember that we as Christians are people who believe in seeking God through prayer and fasting etc, but ultimately, we ought to acknowledge that our faith and life is built on the foundation of His unmerited favour which is called His grace.
