Giving rules X

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 But this [I say:] He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. [So let] each one [give] as he proposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

The 10th giving rule is, "Give as you have purposed in your heart." I heard a preacher say that they set a giving target every Sunday for themselves which they put in an envelope a day or two before the day of worship. Such is an example of one who purposes to give beforehand.

They are past giving out of emotions to giving by intentionality or purposeful giving. Such a one cannot give the Lord pocket change when the giving basket is passed neither can they forget to give. If its a fundraising drive held annually, you ought to set your target a year before the D-day. When your mind is set to a certain amount, your emotions won't feel like you are doing a crime or feel cheated after giving because you have already preset them especially when it's a huge amount.

Become a purposeful giver.
