Giving rules V

2 Corinthians 8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, [it is] accepted according to that a man hath, [and] not according to that he hath not. 

According to the World Giving Index, 2025, people are known to be generous either directly to those in need, to a charitable organisation, or to a religious institution. They do this by either being helpful to a stranger, volunteering their time in an organisation, or by donating money. 

The fourth underlying principle that governs giving is that one should give willingly and freely, not because they are under pressure. In otherwards, giving should be voluntarily done out of one's free will and without any grudging on their part. No one should be forced to give but can be encouraged to do so. Their giving should be from the heart. 

About encouragement, I believe just like all other good mannerisms, giving can be taught because it is not natural to the fallen man, although the new man is by nature a giver. By the new man I mean the born-again spirit within you. You were born again a giver, but for you to fully manifest that, someone has to labour in the word to not only teach it but also demonstrate it to you so that you release that which Christ has placed in the inside of you.

Back to freely giving, the simplicity of the matter should be: "give if you want to give, and if you do not want to, then do not give." It is known that some people groups are big givers; take, for instance, the Jews. Traditionally in Uganda, especially in my Ganda culture, whenever you took a visit to go see someone, you carried a gift, and in retrospect, when you were leaving, they would also gift you. Growing up, I used to see this a lot at home. Whenever we got visitors expect either their brought food or clothes for us, the children, but they did not go back empty-handed. As they were leaving, our father would also gift them with either the same or even with money. The first time one would meet a newborn, they would gift them with either money, a toy, or a nice cloth. This encouraged giving on all fronts. This needs to be retaught; otherwise, some of the people of the current generation have no clue whatsoever about how to be generous.

You need to get out of the receiving end and get into a giving one.
